Daniel Bryan is the number one ranke rookie on NXT, currently. But why? He has 0 wins and he hasn't done exponentially better than any of the other rookies on the show in any of the challenges or what have you? Why does he deserve to be the frontrunner? And please look at this from a WWE-canon, kayfabe perspective. Don't say, "He deserves to win because he was in ROH!!!" or something to that effect. I am asking who, in the eyes of the casual WWE fan who has no knowledge of their past accomplishments, deserves to win it. Personally, I think it seems to be a three-way tie between Wade Barrett (my personal favorite), Heath Slater (I didn't like him at first, but he has grown on me significantly), and Justin Gabriel. These guys, from a kayfabe perspective, have dominated the competition through challenges and win-loss records.

Well, if we're going by kayfabe. Bryan doesn't deserve to be #1 on his merits, but he shouldn't be too far on the list either. He's had his own mentor trying to make sure he's been losing. He's faced more competition than anyone else I can think of.
I think Wade Barrett has shown the most composure to be #1. Since they seem to be grading people on personality, charisma and skills. He seems to be doing well in all of those. Gabriel isn't that comfortable talking, yet.

Heath Slater. He's not my favourite but has the best record and is very charismatic. My personal favourite is Justin Gabriel though.
In kayfabe Danny Bryan should be dead last because he hasn't won a single match and does terrible in all the challenges. From day one he's made me cringe in damn near everything he does.

In kayfabe, Otunga would win just for the heel reaction and piped-in boos, though frankly, Barrett has had the best showing in the season so far.

Barrett who, incidentally, is the only one besides Bryan who's any good.

Health Slater or David Otunga.
Hell, Otunga has been part of the WWE Title feud already.

Daniel Bryan. Why? Because he is more experienced than the rest, thats the gimmick. He isn't a rookie, he's been wrestling longer than his pro himself. I don't know how he'll get out of this slump, unless he says he's been half assing it, to show that he'll be ranked number one on his ability alone or something.

I'd say David Otunga, Darren Young or Justin Gabriel.

Wade Barrett has impressed me both from a kayfabe and a non kayfabe perspective. Not many people can do that. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater are great as the fan favorites. Darren Young is growing on me pretty fast. His promo about toothbrushes was hilarious.Kind of reminded me of one of the early Kurt Angle promos. An apologetic heel."I`m sorry, I`m sorry" "It`s true" "It`s True" Daniel Bryan....not sure yet from a kayfabe perspective.I am not sure if the audience is going to buy the underdog story. David Otunga....zzzz..... Skip Sheffield reminds me of a hybrid between Steve Austin and Sniski. Not sure how well he is doing kayfabe. He seems pretty comfortable behind the mic. Therefore,he has potential kayfabe wise. Michael Tarver....hmmm

Wade Barrett is WAY out in front, IMO.
Slater and Gabriel are decent wrestlers, and Otunga's an OK heel, for a rookie. Young is starting to show some character, as is Sheffield, to an extent. Tarver was lost the second they paired him with Carlito. Bryan, well, I have no idea what they're doing with him, now. Maybe they could work something out where Regal helps him out of his funk, or something.

no one can dominate the ringside apron like Barrett does. therefore he must clearly be the leader <nods>

Yeah, Wade Barret could jump into an IC or US title feud tomorrow and be totally believable. He's the main one who just SEEMS like a star already.

Right now, strictly speaking in kayfabe, probably Wade Barrett.
