The problem I see with Shelton in TNA is he has zero mic skills. The hostile TNA crowd will chew him up, and spit him out everytime he tries to cut a promo. He's not like Mr. Anderson-- able to keep the smarks within the palm of his hand at every second.
If you look at the people that have been successful in TNA that came from WWE (Christian, The Pope, Anderson, Angle, etc.) they were not just technically sound. They had the 'it' factor, too. I doubt Hogan and Dixie would push Shelton much higher than where Kendrick is at.

Shelton f***ing Benjamin? D: But... But... No!
Motherf***er...
Damn, I'm almost as depressed about this as I was about Hurricane, which I'm STILL not over.
Dammit, WWE, wtf are you thinking?
Also, WHY would they fire their most over diva? That makes no sense.

No he doesn't - contract was about to expire anyway. He was still released. As long as you leave the company BEFORE your contract is up, you have to wait the 90 days/

Kung Fu Naki's buddy HBK gets released.... and suddenly Naki is unemployed. Coincidence? Techincally HBK wasn't released. He retired. He is still under some sort of contract I beleive. But the intent of your point stands.

I'm shocked at some of the names on the list (Mickie and Shelton in particular).

Also, WHY would they fire their most over diva? That makes no sense. She dared show interest in things outside of WWE.Or she was late a lot.Probably a little of both.

Why does the name of the thread need to single out Mickie as being the biggest shock or loss? If anything, it should read ......., including Funaki. He is the biggest shock, I honestly thought he had a job for life. To be fair, WWE's page singles out Mickie in the headline.

Aw damn, looks like Vince finally recovered those blackmail pics from Funaki's EVIL clutches! Normally I try not to use the "so-and-so should go to TNA" when someone gets fired from WWE, but Funaki was really popular during the attitude era.... so he's already 80% of the way into TNA's door. I'm a little surprised Mickie was released.... not surprised about Katie Lea since it was only a matter of time from when Paul Burchill was released.... I think Shelton got more chances than most, and although he has all the talent in the world, he seems to lack that "it" factor since people just didn't rally behind him too much... I actually thought Jimmy Wang Yang was released a few months ago... and Jesse was doomed when they broke up his tag team and made him a comedy jobber.

They cannot keep you longer than your contract is written unless they are paying you. Not necessarily. It depends on the terms of the contract. If there were a no questions asked no-compete clause attached to any form of termination, then he'd be subject to it. The fact is, we don't know what the case is.

I doubt Hogan and Dixie would push Shelton much higher than where Kendrick is at. You also have to remember that Kennedy has multiple chances to get himself over the top, but he failed at getting that extra push because of wellness and the inability to stay healthy. I highly doubt that the Impact Zone would be hostile towards Shelton's mic skills as long as he brings it in the ring.

As long as you leave the company BEFORE your contract is up, you have to wait the 90 days/ I am not a legal expert, but there is no way that can be true. If someone's contract expires on the 30th, and they were released on the 29th, why would the three month ban still be in effect? The WWE would be paying that person for 90 days after their contract expired in that scenario. Doesn't make any sense.
