So what standard does WWE have now? Paisley. Nope. She left years ago with Booker T.

Here are my thoughts on the stars that were released.
Mickie James: The biggest surprise here, mostly due to how over she is. The angle with Michelle McCool also ended up getting Michelle over as a mega heel through her own popularity and the sympathy people had for her. Mickie was the most over diva since Trish Stratus. She never reached the popularity of Trish, but she was the closest top girl since she left. I'm guessing it was due to her country music career, and she's likely someone who asked for her release, unless it's otherwise brought up. I don't see WWE releasing Mickie for any reason at all, besides maybe her doing something ridiculously horrible. People THAT over don't get released randomly.
Shelton Benjiman: Another surprise, but somewhat not when it's thought about. Extremely talented, but did somewhat lack the personality to be a top star. Though, to be honest, there's nothing wrong with being a good wrestler and a top guy as well, but that's just me. I think he and Charlie Haas should be brought into either TNA or ROH as a tag team. ROH would be the best spot for that team though, especially if The Briscoes end up leaving, Haas and Benjiman would be great challengers as a team for The Kings of Wrestling.
Jimmy Wang Yang: Another great talent, it did seem though that he only gets a small push, then he ends up becoming a jobber to the stars. ROH would be the best spot for him to go back, again as the Last Dragon. I would be interested if he would keep the redneck gimmick though.
Slam Master J: It's sad, because the guy is pretty talented. But, he was the little guy in the big guy/little guy team. The big guy managed to get a good crowd reaction, and has been successfully repackaged. The gimmick also went no where, and it's a shame he didn't get over.
Katie Lea Burchill: I've been watching her since she was in OVW as the Queen of England. Very talented, and I have a thing for British chicks. Her body is also shaped differently then many of the other girls, and I guess she isn't your typical model looking chick. She had the goth thing going for awhile, which made her stand out a bit, but it's a shame she couldn't have gone further. I think after Paul got released, it was only a matter of time. I think she and Paul would be best for ROH, as Jim Cornette is familliar with the both of them. Plus, Katie could add to ROH's women of honour being a Shimmer alumni, and Paul would make a great singles wrestler there, and could definitely fit in very well with Ring of Honor.
Kung Fu Naki: Funaki stayed for so long, because he was good at what he did. He was a job guy. That was his role. And he was very good at it. He helped get a lot of guys over in his time. Guys like Funaki, I think their value is underestimated. I remember when Braden Walker debuted against Armando Estrada and had a bad match, I thought that guys like Funaki and Nunzio would have jobs forever. It's like what Kevin Sullivan said one time. One time this executive why they were paying so much money for this one guy, he kept losing all his matches. And Kevin said, because it's all bullshit, and this guy makes everybody look better then they are. And we're lucky we have him at this price.

Letting go of Shelton may end up biting WWE in the ass. The guy has the tools to make it big, especially if he winds up in TNA. Mickie I kinda understand, since she's been looking at her music career a lot lately. one that really disappoints me is Funaki, as I figured he'd be a lifer there. And it bewilders me why Reks still has a job there.

TNA, WWE, Ring of Honor, Wrestling Society X, whatever - Shelton Benjamin will never be a big star.

You know with Funaki gone, there is no talent I grew up with in WWE anymore. They are all retired, in TNA, or dead. All I have left is Triple H...what a world, eh Hunter? Undertaker and Kane? Edge, Christian and Matt Hardy?

I bet development will see some releases shortly. There usually are a few guys in development released when talent purges happen.

In all honesty, if Tyler Reks isn't released, there's no justice in this world.

I never understood the lovefest the IWC has with Shelton Benjamin, sure he's an above average worker, but that's it. No personality, no charisma, the guy just isn't a fit for the WWE. I'm surprised he's hung around as long as he did.

In all honesty, if Tyler Reks isn't released, there's no justice in this world. From past experience, I know there's no justice in the world. A "miscarriage of justice," to be exact to quote the late Gorilla Monsoon.

I wouldn't describe Slam Master,Katie, Funaki and Wang as major stars. Mickie though, I am deeply saddened.

I think Shelton could do really well in Japan. His main flaws of mic skills wouldn't be as big a deal there, and he could just show off his great athleticism.
