From what I've heard, he's sort of like a modern Jesse Ventura. You know, a heel, but not silly about it - he doesn't ALWAYS root for the heel, plus he has a ton of practical wrestling knowledge from ahving been around forever. Jesse Ventura is rolling ove iin his grave because of that comment! How dare yo-- What? He's not dead? So he's ALIVE and looks like that?... Huh Anyway, Jesse was light years ahead of most announcers. He brought reality to the sport. He and Monsoon/Vine would have discussions about the match and the sport and break it down logically. JBL's just loud

what you people think if JR and JBL were commentators. It could happen at the Royal Rumble.

JR is way past his prime now.. and it seems like he only puts over Cena, which is depressing.

JR does basically the same thing he did in the attitude era. He's pretty much as good as he's always been. Is it him that you don't like or the product he's putting over?
And JBL/JR tandem? JBL can learn a thing or two

JBL is amazing on the mic, and i feel that he and Cole have far better exchanges than Cole and Taz did, the KOTR exchange is a very good example of that.
I also like how JBL seems to go against the grain of the WWE's standard policy of not remembering anything that happened more than 2 weeks ago and bringing up many obscure references/past angles as possible (such as the Red Rooster namedrop he did most recently)

I'm certain JBL could learn a thing or two, as JR obviously has been doing this a lot longer.
But JR right now isn't as good as he was in the Attitude Era. He seems to go off on a tangent during various matches, which comes across badly,IMO.

I dislike JR a bit because over the years he's lost it slightly. He went through a period of calling everything a modified neckbreaker, and always called wrestlers the wrong name (Matt and Jeff were rarely called the correct thing). He is excitable which is good.
I hate The King as he isn't funny, he doesnt call the matches, he cant decide if he is a face or a heel, and he calls the breasts on the outside of the ring far more than the moves or forwarding storylines.
Michael Cole is as good. He plays it safe. I've not heard him get many things wrong but he isn't as exciting as JR.
Tazz I like cos he is funny, knowledgable about moves and wrestlers.
Joey Styles is great.
JBL goes both ways. One minute he is being funny and calling the moves and sharing knowledge (which is sometimes wrong but usually good) - then he starts saying offensive things and putting himself over.

Considering how little time he's spent doing it, I think JBL has done an amazing job on commetary. Look, why does he have to be as good or even better than JR? It's not a competition. Why can't they both be good at what they do? Hell, they're completely different in every way.

JBL is a professional and BRILLIANT man. He's the kind of guy that wouldn't take an announcing job without doing his homework first. He goes in there with more knowledge of each wrestler than Tazz EVER had. Tazz just sat there like a big goon while Michael Cole carried him. Now Michael Cole can focus more on play by play while JBL fills in the blanks the way it should be done

you don't HAVE to do it for years to be a good commentator. How long did Joey do it before he helmed ECW?
JR gets people over. JBL doesn't

JR gets people over. JBL doesn't What? JBL gets everyone over, never missing a chance to appreciate good wrestling, regardless of whether the guy is face or heel. He gets people over based on their skills.

So JR doesn't try to get Edge over as a heel? Or Carlito or Eugene over? I'm sorry I just can't see why all the JBL love on commentary.

You see, it's refreshing to hear a commentator that doesnt yell "PUPPIES" or make dity diva jokes. It's also great to hear a commentator who doesnt scream about goverment mules and slobberknockers, and DAMN (insert heel wrestler's name here) Lastly, JBL actually talks about WRESTLING, using his many years in the ring as a reference, unlike a certian Raw announcer

no they didn't. Cause he's not funny. All his commentary (at least since Friday cause I could't watch it) have been long JBL promos. JBL is good on the mic for a couple of minutes. but he sure as hell can't carry a show. There may be a line or two that's highlarious (mildly amusing) but comparing him to Jesse Ventura is a spit on Jesse. Every week
I GOTTA BUY ONE OF THOSE LITTLE GUYS! I GOTTA BUY ME ONE!
SHADDAP SHADDAP SHADDAP!
He seriouysly makes me long for the early Tazz/Cole days of SD
