I just got WWE 24/7 and while watching various things, I notice the Superstars of Wrestling banner is blurred out. Why? it has the old school WWF logo. Actually at one point i saw the banner, and just the word wrestling was blurred.
Does someone else have a copyright on the phrase "Superstars of Wrestling" now? If not, this doesnt make any sense.

I always tried to figure that out myself. I figured it wasn't blurred, but the fact that the old banners always looked a little blurry to me. I'm glad someone else saw that.

No its not on there in actual letters at all. On top of that, the banner for Wrestling Challenge isn't blurred at all.

I watched the Hacksaw Jim Duggan Coliseum Video on 24/7 this afternoon and also noticed the blurry banner. I found this on uspto.gov; take it for what it's worth:
Word Mark SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING SW Goods and Services IC 041. US 107. G & S: entertainment services in the nature of television programs featuring wrestling. FIRST USE: 19790000. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19790000 Mark Drawing Code (3) DESIGN PLUS WORDS, LETTERS, AND/OR NUMBERS Design Search Code 01.01.03 - Star - a single star with five points Serial Number 74429666 Filing Date August 30, 1993 Current Filing Basis 1A Original Filing Basis 1A Published for Opposition July 12, 1994 Registration Number 1857015 Registration Date October 4, 1994 Owner (REGISTRANT) Patterson, Albert P. DBA WWA SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING INDIVIDUAL UNITED STATES 3840 NORTH SHERMAN BLVD. Milwaukee WISCONSIN 53216 Disclaimer NO CLAIM IS MADE TO THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE "WRESTLING" APART FROM THE MARK AS SHOWN Type of Mark SERVICE MARK Register PRINCIPAL-2(F)-IN PART Affidavit Text SECT 15. SECT 8 (6-YR). SECTION 8(10-YR) 20050415. Renewal 1ST RENEWAL 20050415 Live/Dead Indicator LIVE Distinctiveness Limitation Statement as to "SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING"
Also worth noting is that Titan Sports apparently abandoned the trademark "Superstars of Wrestling" back in 1987.

Isn't WWE the most successful it's been in its history right now? So why do they opt for blurring out and overdubbing, instead of trying to license trademarks and copyrighted materials they no longer have rights to anymore? Did they spend all their money paying Jesse Ventura royalties for his commentating? Frankly, I don't like paying good money for butchered media. If they're going to cut out the ring entrances or add generic music and blur the logos and cut the words out of everyone's sentences, I'll invest in a stockpile of Coliseum video releases and make DVD transfers. If they won't do it right, they should put on the box that we're not getting the complete show and it should be reflected in a lower price because we're getting damaged goods.
