Now this was an invasion that makes the Alliance Vs. WWF angle look like childs play. Basically it was Jeff Jarrett, who recently came back to the WWF, claiming that WCW screwed him over and he wanted a fresh start in the WWF, but not as "Double J". The WWF, realizing that Jarrett had stock in the then very weak NWA, asked Jarrett to bring the NWA on WWF television, although the WWF was not rejoining the NWA.
Who did Jarrett bring along to the party? The Rock N' Roll Express that was way past their prime. Also duing the angle, Jarrett had a look that predates his current look only with pastel colors and his long hair.
I also found it ironic that Jarrett called Debra a "Blonde Haired Bimbo" the night he did his return speech on RAW, but ended up reteaming with her when she was hired herself in the WWF.
I also like to mention that after the angle failed, Jarrett ended up doing the "Double J" gimmick again until the WWE gave him the "Don't **** Me Off" gimmick

The highlight of the NWA invasion was when Barry Windham jumped ship to the NWA by turning on his tag team partner "Blackjack Bradshaw". I'm surprised that gimmick wasn't mentioned in JBL's excellence ceremony 2 weeks ago.
How could an angle containing both Blackjack Bradshaw and "Bombastic" Bob Holly NOT be inducted?

I actually liked the short-lived NWA stable, if mostly because of Cornette. Hated the way it just fizzled out.

I think it could been better just like any invasion angle. The talent wasn't right. I mean the New Mightnight Express was stupid. Jarrett was the only really good talent in the stable. Windham and the R&R were passed there primes.

I thought Jeff's music around then was great , it was just before that he beat Vader & I think Undertaker by count out at D-X IYH. I quite liked the stable but Windam & R&R didn't really do much apart from run away from or jump Bradshaw & those tag titles they had seem to swap hands fast & Holly & Bart Gunn won them so....

I had actually stopped watching wrestling for a few years (mostly during the dark ages) and one day I happen to catch Raw and who is on there, the Rock and Old express. I almost sh!t myself from the shock. I honestly think that was crap.

I remember it too. They all had their own belts w/ Corny. I remember Corny saying something to the effect "the WWF is old & stale & the future of exciting wrestling was NWA: Smokey Mountain etc etc" I never understood why Vince did this (other than hoping for $$$$)

If two 50 year olds with mullets and tassels is the future of the business, I should quit watching now before it's too late!

I should also mention that this was the angle that brought Dan "The Beast" Severn into the WWF, who went on to do absolute didleysquat during his time there.

On the plus side, wasn't this the period when Cornette did his awesome shoots against WCW, where he likened Hogan to garbage and said the only reason Nash & Hall kept Waltman around was because of "the sounds he makes when hegets loaded"?

At that time Cornette did all his "back in the days"-promos on how wrestling was so much better in the good ol' NWA.
Something Cornette really thinks, I guess
but Cornette promos are ALWAYS - i repeat ALWAYS great.
I don't remember a single Cornette promo or interview or something that didn't entertain me.

I hated the NWA angle mostly because it marked the end of those awesome monologues by Jim Cornette. It didn't help that all the members of the stable were pretty much irrelevant to the wrestling world by that time.
BTW, who could forget that stupid gorilla Dan "The Beast" Severn taking part in that? What a waste he was...

I didn't care for the "NWA" angle. Seeing the "NEW' Midnight Express fueding against The Rock n' Roll Express was real lame. They brought in a couple of other belts and the long reigning NWA World Champion Dan Severin as well. Did Severin defend his title?
