Thanks RD, I've been waiting for this induction! After reading through your writeup, I forgot how bad some of it was. Austin sounded so obnoxious with his "Booooooring!" chant. Maybe if Lance beat up some women, Austin would find him more entertaining. Aside from the insult of calling Lance boring, I actually found the rest of it to be very funny. The dancing was hilarious. It was certainly wrestlecrap.... but still hilarious. And I will admit that his interaction with Goldust was funny too. It was funny to hear monotone Lance talk to Molly about her ass...ass...ass...ascension through the women's division. It all reminded me of the time when Al Snow was trying to help Steve Blackman get a personality, and the payoff was monotone Steve reciting stand-up comedy at an old folks home. I always find that sort of thing funny. At least it led to one of the funniest entrance videos in WWE history: As always, good induction RD!

You mean HEAD-CHEESE?
That was good. Probably because it didn't kill off Steve Blackman there and then. It just made me laugh when Al would sneak up behind Steve Blackman with that Cheese-hat and try to put it on him.
Then Al and Steve became "serious", and then Steve became hardcore champion, then fueded with Shane O' Mac, and then Shane took his first official "stuntman bump" of which he is so famous for now.
You see, that gimmick went somewhere. The Lance Storm jobbification was just Lance Strom getting buried.

Yeah, anyone who still wants to argue with me that "WHAT!" wasn't completely overused needs to listen to that first sound clip and get back to me.
God, I hated that angle. Only in WWE could a kick-punch-finisher shmuck get the crowd to call a legitimately talented guy "boring". That whole thing really ticked me off.

I don't agree with the implication that Austin wasn't a legitimately talented wrestler. He was capable of making changes to his style as his opponent warranted and was able to make up for his physical limitations (due to some pretty bad injuries) with some great ring psychology.

Austin was a much better wrestler during his WCW days. Even his early WWE career was awesome -- his match with Bret at WM13 stole the show. However toward the end of his career, his knees were shot and he had a bad neck. So around that time, his promo skills were basically all that he had to work with.
As for Lance, I never knew why WWE had such a hard time getting him over without resorting to such silly tactics and gimmickry. WCW and ECW never seemed to have that problem -- they got him over just by letting Lance be Lance.

Okay I admit it... I sort of enjoyed this angle (primarily when Lance was hanging out with Goldust). But as the weeks went on, I knew that the gimmick was brutal.

I also liked dancing Lance Storm. I thought he was over with that but I guess not. It did cause him to retire though. I don't remember the big dong gimmick though.

. I don't remember the big dong gimmick though. Lets dig into the things I've pushed into the back of my brain. Basically Val Venis brought some ladies into the mens shower, talking about how Lance had a great big heart. So Lance comes out of the shower butt naked, screams at Val, and then the girls say "I guess thats not the only thing thats big!"

Lance Storm was too talented of a wrestler to be paired up with either Goldust or Val Venis. Every week after Lance came out of that shower butt naked, he and Val were coming out to the ring with girls on their arms. Unfortunately, these chicks were more hideous by the passingweek and did nothing to convince me that Storm was some stud muffin.
At least he was given some dignity when he wrestled Steven Richards in his homeland for his last match. And I believed he wore his old tights and came out to his old music.

Wonder if Lance knows about this site. He seems pretty active on his own domain.

That is really cool. Although I did like Lance's new look and music, his original look and music is what his character will always be primarily remembered by. It's cool that he got to be "classic Lance" one last time.

A worthy induction. To think Lance Storm was one of the few highlights at the end of WCW and then WWE treated him with utter disregard. They could have done great things with him in matches against guys like Jericho and Benoit but instead they gave him a big dong gimmick. Makes me feel bad for him.
