Dear RD,
I am an aspiring journalist that has recenlty begun work on an article detailing the WWE "King of the Ring" event and would like to ask your opinion ofthe event in several different areas. Most importantly I would like to know how effective the push wrestlers got from winning the event was and if you think that the King of the Ring should be brought back. Any information you could give would be much appreciated towards how you feel about the event.
Sincerly, Daniel Johnson

I remember the first King of the Ring vividly - I was actually there. And it was GREAT. Bret Hart wrestled three matches, and that's never a bad thing.
As for the KOTR over the years, it got progressively worse, until we saw MABEL win the damn thing. At that point, the show was destroyed.
In theory, a show-long tournament to crown a new contender to the title is a great idea. However, given how badly they botched the show over the years, it became a joke. And having seen some of the booking on WWE TV these days, I don't know believe that they'd have clue one as to how to bring it back and make it mean anything.
