Thank you for posting that link. The old ones have been pretty decent so far. And as far as the Ministry one, I loved it. Jake Roberts as the Higher Power = Brilliant. Jed, excellent work as usual. Looking forward to the TNA Booking. (For the love of God, PLEASE, BRING BACK THE FALLEN ANGEL!)

Also, two ideas that I saw brought up here that really sounded cool were the one with Andre not selling the title to Ted Dibiase and the one with Owen beating Bret for the title (the cage match at Summerslam '94 might've been a good venue for this to happen).

I've got some ones that haven't been posted here yet:
1. What if...Bret Hart had been part of The Clique? (he had joined Shawn, Hall, and Nash in forming it when Shawn offered in 1994)
2. What if...Ultimate Warrior hadn't left the WWF after Summerslam '91?
3. What if...Undertaker hadn't lost the title back to Hulk Hogan in late 1991?
4. What if...Eric Bischoff had been accepted to work for the WWF in the early 90's?
5. What if...Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff had never had the scheduling miscommunication that led to Flair being taken off TV?
6. What if...Curt Hennig hadn't turned on the Horsemen at Fall Brawl/War Games '97?

Quick Question Jed: How did Carlito win the ECW title back off Val? Did I screw up and have Val take the title off him? Cause I meant to have Carlito have an uninterrupted reign to 'Mania. Oops. Just to keep you all updated ... I'm sorta on a ... well ... let's call it a sabbatical. The short version is, I've hit a wall, creatively. If I force new editions, they won't come out at the same quality level I demand from myself (and what you've come to expect), so I'm taking a little time off. Hope you all understand. Jed Shaffer ~The Higher Power hasn't been reprinted here on 'Crap because it needs some SERIOUS editing.

Your crap is the best part of the weekly updates when it's there. And as far as editing is concerned, I read the "What if there was no Montreal Screwjob?" on the old site, and I thought it was better than the version on Wrestlecrap.

Well, Val beat Carlito at the Rumble. Let's say Carlito bitched enough to make it non-title, then won the title rematch the next week on ECW.
And I suppose that's fine Jed, but you'll forgive me for being really impatient. Take all the time you need, just leave us here to piss and moan about it.
Oh, and you do have "What if Mankind won the title at Mind Games" somewhere on the list, right? Probably down the bottom but it is there, ya?

Yeah, Jed has that on his list that he posted on page 2 of this thread. It's there. Speaking of which, Jed, just a whiny, nit-picky little detail: one of your potential storylines that you have listed is Bret being the nWo's third man in '96. But remember: Bret didn't begin negotiations with WCW until early Fall of that year, so he was never going to be the third man. Nit-picking over.

I noticed something on the first page of this thread: Which is why you had Heyman buying out WCW because he "didn't want to see McMahon disrespect it" in your DX/Nitro RWTB, right? While, on the surface, that'd seem like a contradiction, I can defend myself on that one: The Heyman-buys-WCW bit in the DX/Nitro story wasn't the central issue. This was something that happened as a snowball effect, "years" down the line from the story's central question. And, in the narrative itself, it could be defended by saying Heyman also wanted to buy it to get revenge on WCW and, by extension, Bischoff, once and for all by owning it years after being fired (turning the "disrespect" thing into a kayfabe angle of sorts). Or Heyman hating the company, but respecting the wrestlers and knowing how Vince would bury them. But, in the end, it all comes back to Heyman buying WCW as being a side-effect of answering the primary what-if. Bischoff buying ECW, however, is unrealistic from the opening bell. There was never so much as a hint of Bischoff buying ECW, and nobody in their right mind could believe that Heyman would sell ECW to Bischoff as opposed to letting it go bankrupt. It just isn't plausible. Jed Shaffer ~Reminds me of an idea someone sent to me once ... "What if Trish Stratus joined the Four Horsemen?". Really. I really got that once. Didn't Heyman have backers and such though? Who he'd ultimately be responsible for? Bichoff did sign away a lot of ECW talent, so buying ECW could have just been acquiring all the talent.

But remember: Bret didn't begin negotiations with WCW until early Fall of that year, so he was never going to be the third man. Nit-picking over. I wrote the idea down at a time when I hadn't heard anything to the contrary about Bret being a possible third man. Now that the truth it known about it, obviously, any story involving the nWo's genesis and the third man not being Hogan would not involve Bret. While, on the surface, that'd seem like a contradiction, I can defend myself on that one: The Heyman-buys-WCW bit in the DX/Nitro story wasn't the central issue. Acclaim had a very small piece of ECW, but by and large (and I've never heard anything to the contrary, so if such info exists, someone point me in said direction), ECW was wholly owned by Mr. Heyman. And, again, Heyman would've died before he sold ECW to Bischoff. The acrimony between him and Bischoff was too deep for Heyman to ever consider it. Jed f'n Shaffer ~Yeah, the Montreal re-write didn't come out as good as I hoped. But "Higher Power" NEEDS it. It's got too much story crammed in too short a period of time.

The Montreal rewrite was fine. I thought it was the right thing to do to make it read more like a retrospective article with shoot interviews and such, along the lines of the DX Invading Nitro one. I think you should keep sticking to that format for RTB's about events that would change the whole wrestling industry; it just strikes me as more realistic, like we're reading it from the perspective of an objective fan who only knows what we're told and shown. And I thought parts of the original draft were too wordy and descriptive; I preferred the more trimmed-down version that got posted here on WrestleCrap.

I just remember hearing about some sort of legal entanglements that prevented the WWF from bringing in ECW's title belts. And as I recall they tried to avoid official mentions fo ECW. It was always The Alliance.

Hell, it's almost too slow paced! Exactly, it needs more swerves. And more Stephanie McMahon-induced zombies. How about.....The Rock? Just imagine Zombie Rock. How awesome would that be? Even if it does f*** up the entire story in every single way. It'd be worth it. Or, how about Ken Shamrock and D-Lo Brown, since they're in there for like, one little ambush, and other than that they don't appear at all. Don't forget, more swerves. A lot more swerves. Hell, how about at the end, you reveal that Vinny Mac was Jake Roberts all along, and Vince McMahon was really his evil (but not really evil) twin Vonce McMahon.

No no, reveal that Jake and Vince swapped brains at the start, and then have Flair come in to try and restore order, all in an effort to beat up Sting yet again.
Brilliant!

And at the very end, JR brings back Fake Razor Ramon, Kane hits the ring and unmasks to reveal Fake Diesel, and they form the nOw (the New Order of Wrestling) with JR exclaiming "BAH GAWD KANG, WE'RE TAKING OVER!!!! JR proceeds to go backstage, come back in a truck, and douses everyone in barbecue sauce.

Only to then turn on the nOw there and then, and reveal he was working with Austin and Rock all along to form the SnakeBull BBQers, who are then beat up and pinned by Chyna, Jerry Lawler and Aurora Rose Helmsley*
*- She travels back in time for some reason.

Somewhere, you know Jed is writing this down for next year's April Fools. (are you listening, ya lazy bum? We're doing your April Fool's RTB for you! Now you don't have to get off your bum ass! Nah, I'm just kidding. You're all right, Jed)

Jed, I know you're not big on doing RTB's based on recent storylines and haven't been following the WWE as closely in the past few years, but here's one, in the same vein as the Higher Power and Rikishi running over Stone Cold, that could definitely benefit from a "What if..." reworking sometime in the far-off future.
What if...someone besides Hornswoggle had turned out to be Vince's illegitimate son?

Hell, why doesn't he make it offical? Make a thread for AFRTB's, we all post our stuff, he chooses the best. Let's him off the hook since he doesn't like it, we all get our moment in the sun, and it gurarentees a RTB!
Everyone wins!
