Yeah, I know it's his real name, and maybe they'll drop the "Daniel Bryan" name altogether, but we got accustomed to "Evan Bourne" over his previous "Matt Sydal" billing.
I never got the big deal about most name changes. I could comfortably call McGuinness "Desmond Wolfe" right when he first got the new ring name.

It's a self-aware jab that the E (and possibly Joey Styles) is making at itself. We here at IWC Central are always bitching about the FCW name generator turning out guys named Vance Archer and Ponce McCannaboddy, and Danielson pointing out the name change thing is 4th wall-type self-referential stuff.
As to why he used the Daniel Bryan moniker at first, it was supposedly so he could keep the legal rights to his real name...which is apparently turning out to be nothing more than kayfabe.

Because IMO Daniel Bryan is a dumb name for a start.
It would be similar to say, Shawn Michaels going to TNA and being called Michael Shawn. It sounds wrong.

I would have a big problem with it if it something good like Evan Bourne or Desmond Wolfe, "Daniel Bryan" just seems lazy and uninspired.
Then you add in billing him as an international superstar and acting like he is someone fans should know, calling him something else seems to defeat the build up he's getting. Plus after last week where they had him drop the Bryan Daniel name and talk up Bryan Danielson, it makes even less sense.

I think it's a direct reaction to the trend of giving guys weird new names for the WWE. It's no secret that a lot of guys have done well on the Indy scene, been called up to the WWE, been given odd new names, not put over/underused/hampered by political issues and been subsequently released forever, free to burn bridges and spread the bad word about the 'E in shoot interviews. The WWE must be aware of this if they have a finger on the pulse of the industry, and the Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson debut angle is a reflection of that. It turns the smarks into marks and works on a level that regular marks can enjoy as well.

Yeah he'll stick with The Loose Cannon gimmick I hope.
He really can pull off Crazy, and It was a damn good promo from him full of passion and earnestness.
I really hope for big things for the guy, even tarver as a back up

Are we talking about Michael Shawn Hickenbottom here? If anything, It would be cool to see him go his career int he WWE as Daniel Bryan as a nod to his teacher, who did the exact same thing.

Sometimes I get it, but to me the worst case thus far, merely for the situation, was the Evan Bourne deal. I'm sorry, but when Sydal debuted on ECW the crowd was chanting his name, yet they went ahead with a name change the very next week following his debut.

I think they just decided that they could squeeze "Bourne to ____" puns whenever they could. Still, Evan Bourne is a decent name. Vance Archer and Tyler Reks. Theyre goofy names. Come to think of it, where the hell did Caylen Croft come from?

I prefer the Daniel Bryan name. It sounds more WWE'ish and fits the whole bland no personality gimmick he's got. I know he's actually being him, but his gimmick should be that he has no personality.

I'm sorry Desmond Wolfe is a good name ? What you said. Honestly, if we didn't know that his real name was Bryan Danielson, it's probably one of the most normal names they've given one of their wrestlers in ages.

Poor Matt Bentley. I followed TNA a bit on the internet, but didn't have Fox Spots Net, and it seemed that the guy was doing decent, until he changed his name, and it was never the same for him. He debuted on Impact with the Bentley Bounce, floundered on Xplosion, and then got beat up by Raven a lot.
Anyway, sometimes the name changes bother me. Mostly the rhyming names, like Vance Archer and Jack Swagger. Those are the two worst for me. Or, Marquis CorVon, remember that. The black guy just couldn't guy by Monty, it had to be some jazz name with hot jazz music as his entrance. Eventually they changed it to Marcus, but still. I still remember that, talk about having music that did not fit the character, especially since he debuted with the same character he had on TNA television. But I digress.
I get used to new names, but Daniel Bryan is an incredibly bad name as well.

Fair enough, I don't even mind the old name either, my main point was if we're not supposed to be threatened by 'Desmond' that 'Nigel' ain't exactly terrorizing either.
