and it saddens me to think TNA didn't do more with them. Granted they were 'wasted' during their big heel run but they certainly could have gone even further and done more interesting things with them. Whereas you have the WWE doing over-the-top movie things like an exploding limo you had TNA doing a real, gritty cable TV race issue. I think it really could have brought in more viewers if they had pulled it off correctly. I never liked Konnan previously but he was phenominal in his role.

You wanna know what happened? Russo happened. That summer was the last time I really enjoyed wrestling as ECW's revival was still pretty cool, Raw wasn't bad, and TNA was on fire. LAX should have been something that grew and propelled TNA.
They built an amazing feud between them and Styles&Daniels. And Russo comes in for the blow off match and does some silly stuff like have LAX pour tequilla on Daniels. Nothing says Russo more than Hispanic stereotypes.
And then they slowly faded. And Konan got bitter.

Totally agree. I LOVED their feuds with AJ/Daniels and AMW. It really felt like TNA stopped believing in them when Konnan left though.
And about the Russo point above, it was right after Vinny Ru came in and LAX got the 3-d feud that I stopped caring about the company for a year or so. I remember a fish market street fight or something, and of course, that electrified cage mess.

AJ & Daniels vs. LAX was one of my favorite tag rivalries ever, and the AMW feud was sweet as well. And the electrified cage match was super awesome! What a mess that thing was

I don't think they really screwed it up though. They played that up and it was cathardic because of the hot button of hispanic workers that summer. The no-shows and work stoppages and Konnan poured it on. They were over, got heat and unless my memory is gone kerput they were world tag team champions. How were they or thier heat wasted? They could have gone farther but maybe then we would have resnted them as being forced on us?

It seems like LAX could go from being right in the thick of things to virtual obscurity just like that. I think the same could be said of either Homicide or Hernandez individually. For whatever reason, they can't seem to get behind either of these guys for any length of time and they absolutely could.
TNA doesn't know when to leave stuff alone sometimes, I guess.

Don't blame Russo for what happened with LAX. I swear to god people love to mention how LAX were so perfect and so ready to be the next nWo sensation before Russo came and f'd it all up with his poles and his racism.
If anything, Konnan leaving did more damage to LAX than that one bad match at Lockdown.

LAX was incredible. I haven't been able to get into either Homicide or Hernandez's solo pushes, their chemistry was just that good- and not even factoring Konnan, they're the only two guys who could have pulled the gimmick off.

LAX, yet another good group/wrestler/angle that couldn't achieve it's full potential in TNA. *sigh*

Personally, I think LAX should have been main eventing and LAX posters should have been plastered everywhere.

The Homicide/Hernandez LAX was awesome. I never saw ver. 1.0, and judging from the comments here, I'm glad I didn't.

LAX was awesome. Then like we mentioned Russo came along and they were booked as a stereotype and became the usual cliche Anti Americans. I remember them losing the title because they nearly burnt the American Flag down was one of the stupidest things ever. The fans really crapped over that one.
Then the whole Team 3D feud was awful like Little Italy streetfights, Italian New Yorker sterotypes, the electrified steel cage match. Just horrible. Only good thing that came from that was when Homicide attacked D-Vons trainer. That was a pretty good segment I remember. Also Konnan leaving, turning face, started jobbing back and forth to everyone, and having Ariel as the replacement to Konnan were the final nails to the coffin. Actually Ariel could of been a good replacement but she left way to early to do softcore porn.
She would made an excellent cheerleader or the Knockout of the division if she debuted earlier with Konnan still around. She could of have excellent character dynamics with the rest of LAX especially Konnan.
