I was wondering who the people here think the best of the three is when they team up on PPVs. On the one hand, I like Cole because he doesn't try to steal the show, but I agree that he sounds like a puppet. Striker's intelligent, but seems waaaaaaay too theatrical. Lawler's just beyond reproach. Anyway, here's my impression of me having dinner with the three of them. Enjoy! www.worldwrestlinginsanity.com/am2/publish/Other_Promotions_47/jh2.shtml

Striker is the best in WWE right now, followed by Matthews. As much as I hate on Cole, I do like his persona on NXT, and should do a full-fledged heel turn and act like that on Raw as well. He's pretty much aware of how the IWC hates him, and he can use it to his advantage.

Striker. What I love about him is that he has an opinion of his own. Regardless of who is face or heel, he likes them both. He has stated on a number of times that he doesn't like John Cena. He clearly has his favourites and his least favourites and he lets you know about them. It's like... when he's commentating, it's not scripted. He also has classic one-liners ("get those cats off my fence!") and little nuds to moves that are done. For instance, when Zack Ryder did the Zack Attack for the first time, Striker says "WOW, I wonder who he got that move from!" (for those who don't know, that was Matt Striker's finishing move before hand).
Cole and King? Well, they just go along with the storylines. If Chris Jericho turned face, Cole would be his biggest fan. They CONSTANTLY make John Cena look good, regardless of the situation. Striker isn't biased, he sticks up for what he sees. If a heel is in the wrong, he'll point it out. If a face is in the wrong, he'll point it out. And the guy is like a walking wrestling encyclopedia. King doesn't even try, and Cole is wayy too repetitive and forced. Same lines every week, same routine every week, same fake laugh every week. They're boring to watch and listen to. Probably the worst commentary team of all-time.

Striker by far.
He's the best thing about the WWE right, King should be fired, the man is senile, he was quite good on commentary in the attitude era, I always liked how he adored Kurt Angle for example, I've no idea where he started to become unable to get his words out but he really is awful these days.
Micheal Cole I don't mind as long as there's another competent commentator along side him.
But Matt Striker all the way, I can't even begin to list all the nuances that I love about his commentary!

Matt Striker because he sounds intelligent and puts forth his best effort to call a match unlike Cole and King who either sound like a couple of dumbasses or puts no effort into their work.

We all know that King has what it takes to be good. He's just been restricted and toned down by the bland face/face dynamic they want now. He still pulls out some great one liners every now and then. Cole has NEVER been good. Striker is ok just for the fact he isn't a suck up to the baby faces.
I was thinking after the Last man standing match that if Batista had taped up Cena to get the win Cole would have snapped and started weeping uncontrollably before trashing the announce table Bret Hart/ Montreal style.

Striker by a country mile.
King was really good back in the day, but to say he's lost a step would be an understatement.

Caught a little bit of the Extreme Rules event, Cole and Lawler sounded so quiet or bored it sounded as if they were commentating on Golf.

I really don't know. I guess Lawler, though Lawler nowadays is not nearly as good. This is one of the lowest points in WWE history for announcing in my view...though I guess when Coach was filling in for JR was bad too...

They're equally terrible.
You know what I'd love? A Mathews/Regal team. It's not like Regal will be doing anything on Raw, anyway.

They should really have a three person announce team on Raw. Striker/Cole/Lawler work well off each other and Striker's actually got Lawler to say some interesting stuff, for the foirst time in a long while.
Since Smackdown now is unofficially a nationally televised FCW, why not have Smackdown be Grisham and Matthews and have Raw be actually awesome with Striker being the heel color King be the face color and Cole being play by play it really worked awesome at Extreme Rules where Striker was praising Punk and the SES to an almost disgust level and King took some great shots at Striker.
Really this would be a way to make Raw amazing if they'd do this. Plus this would give Raw a Primetime Wrestling feel when they had Gorilla/Ventura/Hennan as the announce team. Really with pro wrestling you need a good announce team to make it entertaining, bad one makes it painful even if the wrestling is great and really lets be honest King and Cole were not working but you add Striker and it's gold. I demand WWE to do this now!
But to the question who's better? Definitely Striker because King is mostly boring now as a bland face and with Cole I lost interest with him with his dreadful play by play of Wrestlemania XV, although he's kind of cool on NXT and I enjoyed JBL running him down on Smackdown. But Striker wins in my opinion although he needs to talk a little less and has the tendancy to over talk during a match talking about stuff no one cares about but having Lawler reel him in would help alot, since most of the time I enjoy his comments but he sometimes is too much when he is allowed to ramble.

I will admit, I prefer it when Striker is announcing with Lawler because sometimes Lawler seems to bring Striker down to earth and question what he is saying. Of course Striker tries to do this with King as well.

Striker's way over-rated, Cole sucks, and I can put up with Lawler for nostalgic reasons if nothing else.

I agree, and I'll say again - if Jericho doesn't become a commentator when he retires from the ring, it will likely be the biggest disappointment in wrestling history.

Striker is so far above every other commentator that it's quite embarrassing. And frankly, he's not even that great. It's just that the product is absolutely atrocious now. It's easily bar none the worst group of commentators WWE has ever had.
And I blame Vince for being such a micromanaging control freak jagoff.

We all know that King has what it takes to be good. He's just been restricted and toned down by the bland face/face dynamic they want now. Is there some reason they want this? I actually agree that they don't want heel commentators. I just want to know why they would want their product to intentionally suffer. Once again, I blame Vince.
