Second, you are saying this is a throwaway PPV. NOTHING that a company pays to put on should be considered "throwaway" by any means. Very true. TNA can't afford to just throw money away for the hell of it. No, they really want and expect this thing to do good money for themselves. ECW is what their feedback surveys said is wanted, ECW is what they're doing. I don't think anyone involved is thinking throwaway at all.

On SEScoops they said that RVD vs Jerry Lynn has been confirmed as the main event.

Yeah, it looks like RVD vs Lynn is confirmed and is the perfect match for a new ECW reunion show. I am very interested in seeing what they can do in 2010 anyway, much more than if RVD was facing Abyss.

How is that confirmed? It'd be different if they got like a new commercial that has that listed, but all it has it as confirmed is cause they say so.

I'd put money on it being confirmed.
These sites are deliberately vague about nearly everything. The only reason they'd stick their neck out and say something like that is if it's going to happen.
Count me as one of the people that wanted to see RVD-Abyss instead.
Hard Justice Main Event Spoiler: Rob Van Dam wins.

Well, yeah. I mean obviously RVD will beat Lynn. That's why this show is puzzling. TNA does in fact have some interesting stuff going on, feuds that I would like to see on the next PPV. RVD vs. Abyss is at least a fresh matchup, and if booked correctly could be a wild hardcore brawl (Van Terminator anyone?).
From the ROH shows I've seen Lynn just doesn't seem like he has much left in the tank.

Prowrestling.NET Jason Powell
Dot Net members received the first look at this news earlier this week. To get the first look at Dot Net News, become a member for as little as $5.50 per month by visiting the Dot Net Members' Signup Page.
-Dot Net has confirmed reports that the main event of the Hard Justice pay-per-view will be Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn.
-Johnny Swinger is expected to appear on the show, presumably in a tag match with longtime partner Simon Diamond (a/k/a Pat Kenney), who works as an agent for TNA.
-Justin Credible's name came up internally, but we have not confirmed that he will appear on the show.
-There is some talk of trying to make up for the fact that the show won't be filled with great in-ring action by adding more interview content. One idea is doing a series of sit-down interviews with some of the former ECW wrestlers and airing them throughout the show in between matches.
Powell's POV: The word amongst former ECW wrestlers is that TNA officials reached out to Roadkill, but the story goes that he turned them down. It will be interesting to see whether Sandman is booked for the show, as he filed a deposition against TNA in the Konnan discrimination lawsuit. Sean Waltman did the same and was booked as part of The Band, so it's would not be unprecedented for TNA to use someone who testified against them.
The rumored pay for the non-contracted wrestlers is said to range of $500 and $1,000 for in-ring performers. There has been some talk internally regarding the possibility of holding some house show events featuring the former ECW wrestlers in select markets where ECW was most popular. However, I have yet to hear of company officials mentioning this possibility to the wrestlers who have been contacted regarding Hard Justice.

I question the logic of booking this show two months before Bound For Glory, which is supposedly TNA's biggest event of the year. This takes away one full month of hype and storyline development for BFG right when they need it most.
This is the equivalent of WWE running ECW One Night Stand in January instead of the Royal Rumble.
I understand that TNA PPVs aren't drawing money for the company and I understand this is a way for them to at least get a decent one-time buyrate from the ECW nostalgia audience.
However, TNA has to use at least four weeks of their weekly TV (which people actually watch) in order to sell people on the 8/8 ECW reunion PPV at the expense of putting over TNA's full-time talent.
Perhaps an ECW reunion PPV could have been done in November after Bound For Glory.

Wooooo. RVD vs Jerry Lynn. I'm sorry, but I spent so many hours rewatching their matches from ECW that I don't care how broken down these guys are... I just want to watch it again and revisit some nostalgia from childhood.
And seriously, if Fonzie is not in RVDs corner, I riot.

"The Frenchfries" Shane Douglas wrestling Ric Flair in 2010 is indeed LOL worthy.

Shane Douglas vs. Ric Flair...
It both excites me & terrifies me at the same time. The story writes itself, but f*** the match would be a chore to sit through, and that's being generous.

It was bad enough when they had a couple matches in WCW 2000. Now...ugh.
But now RVD vs Lynn's been confirmed, oh no, don't tell me Abyss went to all that effort of constructing Janice (twice), purchasing that side of meat, buying that watermelon and so on for nothing...?

It's reassuring to hear that Dreamer is doing his best to make it as close to a "traditional" ECW experience as possible. My expectations are only that it at least distinguish itself from the average TNA ppv experience however they can manage it. Overall, I have to give this my support if only so it can stand as a more fitting "final word" on the true legacy of Hardcore, presented "by the Extreme, for the Extreme", so to speak, instead of becoming so insipid and bland it was Old Yeller-ed in favor of WWE's version of Double Dare.

If TNA are smart, they'll have Abyss run in during the Lynn/RVD match.

It isn't an ECW reunion unless they reunite Sylvester Terkay with Elijah Burke! Terkay could be "The Archbishop".

I remember reading a few years ago that ECW's old PPV Director was in TNA's production dep't. Anyone know if he's still around? If so, that seems like it would have been a crucial factor in clearing the whole idea and convincing enough people that they could actually pull it off.

It isn't a real ECW reunion unless half the roster's paychecks bounce.
