So they decided to make an ECW stable because people from Philly remembers and loved ECW.
So if they do a survey in Carolinas, will they do a Mid-Atlantic group?

Facepalms all around.
I wish they would have done an AWA survey in Minnesota, I'd mark for a Nick Bockwinkel appearance.

Was it just Philly, cause there were some strong feelings of it during their Jersey shows, too. Same with NY.
In fact, just say the East Coast seem favorable to ECW.

like I said in the VR thread, I'm favorable towards it. I watched ECW when it was on local tv in Philly before it even hit TNN

I think the stable should never actually wrestle or anything. Just show them sitting in the crowd during one match, every week, for like a year.

I watched ECW when it was on local tv in Philly before it even hit TNN Well, yeah, we all mostly remember ECW fondly, but it's not really relevant to today's wrestling scene. A lot of the guy's(and I'm looking mostly at Raven here) are broken down shadows of their former selves, and you're just not gonna capture that lighting in a bottle that was ECW twice. If WWE couldn't cash in on the appeal with a long term franchise attempt, then TNA won't do it with a stable and a storyline, especially considering, can they even mention the initals "ECW", since WWE owns the rights?

There's nothing wrong with having fond memories, but why not instead do things similar to ECW, and angles that had a feel to the original ECW. Maybe not the exact guys, or violence, or whatever. But, intriguing angles at least, which is what they did in the original ECW.
They should focus on TNA, and put these guys in situations that relate to TNA, and not ECW. Again, I love all 4 guys, but TNA seems to be about the past, and not the present.

The good thing about the constant recycling of the ECW angles is that eventually all of the wrestlers will be old enough to return to the Bingo Hall, in this case to play with the other seniors.

If done right this could be cool, but they'd have to push younger talents for it to truly get over. I think TNA vying to be the violent alternative is both dangerous and kinda smart considering it is an alternative.

I just thought it was because they were courting Paul E. Dangerously.

You either use the ECW guys as a gateway, and, when the rest of the show impresses, build your audience, or, the violence of the ECW guys alienates some fans, and your fanbase is diminished. It's a risk, but if TNA does it right, it could pay off bigtime for them.

It's a risk, but if TNA does it right, it could pay off bigtime for them. That's the thing. How do you do it right so it pays off bigtime? I loved ECW, bought the DVDs, and was annoyed with how WWE tried to revive it with a watered down version. But I'm 13 years older now. As Heyman likes to put things, it's not cool anymore. So why should I tune in?

ECW had the right balance of homegrown talent, and vets to keep interest and to get the homers over.
TNA? FAIL.

Hey remember when WWE brought back ECW with their own twist on it? How'd that turn out? They even had the ECW Originals vs. WWECW New Breed. I can't imagine TNA being able to run an angle that would top that...without Heyman. If Heyman ran WWECW like he wanted to, it wouldn't have gone to shit as quickly as it did. If TNA gives Heyman a reasonable amount of control, this has a chance.

I just thought it was because they were courting Paul E. Dangerously. That's what I think too. It's their way of saying "Hey Paul! Look! We're doing ECW stuff! We're on the same page as you! Come work here!" The funny part is that they are too stupid to realize that Heyman keeps saying that wrestling needs to move into the future. I'm no fortune teller, but I can almost guarantee that if Heyman takes over, the ECW stable will go away pretty quickly. To me it seems like something he wouldn't like because it reeks of the past.

I liked the WWF back in 1987...but that doesn't mean I want to see Greg Valentine and Tito Santana hobbling across the ring every week.

TNA, please do a survey in Memphis. I'm dying to see Jarrett and Koko B. Ware go at it one more time!
