Another problem with TNA is that the smarkier folks who watch it often do so illegally. This is the bane of anything with a nerd fanbase (just ask Futurama fans, who often used torrents rather than watching the show legally.
Live sports events are one of the few "sure things" left in broadcasting, but TNA snorks even them up by insisting on the 12 PPV model. By this point I doubt anyone cares much if "the buyrates are so low that nobody even really keeps track" hypothesis is true. Booking to a 12 PPV model is painfully constrictive even for WWE. You can see why TNA can't make it work.

More like 7500 in each house! [/Schiavone] Well played, sir. And I really hope that isn't the actual number. I watched some of the PPV a few days after it happened, and it didn't look pretty. Madison Rayne/Angelina Love was a booking mess, and Morgan/Hernandez was a comedy of errors.

I still say Morgan and Hernandez could be huge assets if they were actually in an entertaining story.

People won't even watch it for Free Credit for Audio July 12th Observer Radio www.f4wonline.comTo show how little interest there is in PPVs, when it comes to illegal streams of PPVs, most WWE show will have 30 to 50 different streams, usually with about 1,000 people per stream hooked up before being shut down during the show. Victory Road only had five streams across all the major pirating sites and totaled less than 1,500 viewers as compared to about 60,000 or more for an average WWE event and more than 200,000 for most UFC events. That number is live during the event streams and not including later pirating of the show through youtube and torrents. Credit Dave Meltzer July 19, 2010 Observer Newsletter www.wrestlingobserver.com

Or it can always wait until Gitmo closes and use the IMPACT Zone as a private prison for all the terrorists. "Hey we have alot of LOYAL fans! In fact, once you're a TNA fan, you're a fan FOR LIFE!!!"

Having watched the PPV and last nights Impact, I'm not sure what incentive there is for anyone to pay for TNA.
If you'd skipped the PPV and just watched last night, you'd have missed pretty much nothing.
