So, Angle's starting from the very bottom (of the top 10) and is working his way up to Number 1 contender. All well and good, very nice, but does it feel like there's something missing from the story to you?
Now I never partake in "fantasy booking" because, well, I'm just not very good at it. There's a reason people get paid big bucks to do it and I.... don't, but I do know that that every great story needs an antagonist and that's what this potentially great story is missing. I mean, where's the excitement in Kurt coming out smiling, saying he's going to beat the guy ahead of him in the rankings and then... beating him?
So get ready for my first and only wrestling idea, how about if one of Kurts imminent Top 10 contenders attacks him either mid match costing him the win or (because of this new "next match I loose will be my last" stipulation) jumps him in the back before a match so he has to forfeit. So not only is Kurt chasing the title but now he wants to get his hands on the guy who attacked him, only problem is every time Kurt takes a step up the ladder so does the other guy so they never get chance to face each other until the heel's the champion and Kurts number one contender in one big blow off match.
so yay or nay, should I just go back to just watching like everyone else and stop thinking? ;D

These type of angles start to heat up after about half way through.

It would be great of it was a heel champ doing this so he could avoid Angle.

My idea for it, was get the belt on a heel ASAP and have Kurt chase the belt until BFG. At BFG, Kurt get's screwed out of the belt, and is denied another shot. And from there, the road is to Lockdown 2011 where Angle finally gets another shot and dethrones the champ. Have the champ throw everything and the kitchen sink at him between BFG and LockDown
Obviously, it needs to be more fleshed out then that but I feel that's a good basic outline
EDIT: Seriously tho, I think this angle (no pun intended) has a world of potential.

It would be even better, if Kurt would retire first.

If anyone recalls this RVD did an interview after he won the belt where he said something to the effect of "I dare Kurt Angle to come after this belt." That seemed to be planting the seed for an eventual match.
I mentioned this in another thread, but this angle is just lacking...something. Maybe it's a hard driving conflict thus far. It would be better if Angle simply hadn't been ranked at all and Bischoff could say "Hey, I thought you were taking time off...sorry dude." Angle taking himself out after missing 1 PPV was a bit bizarre considering The Pope is still ranked and he missed far more time. It just seems like there's no driving force here, just "Kurt beats Kaz like he should....Kurt beats Desmond Wolfe....now he'll beat Pope."
I would assume this will get more intense as he works his way up through the top 10, but there isn't really anyone in the top 10 lighting the world on fire.

while its cool because it keeps angle out of the title picture for a while to keep things fresh, its obvious hes just gonna plow through the top 10 and how does that really help someone they are trying to build like the Pope

The thing about the storyline is he has to win the title or it was stupid and since you know he's going to win the title it's anti-climatic.

Also, the storyline is that if he loses his career ends. Which is more likely, that Kurt pins The Pope this Sunday or he retires as a result of a nothing match with no major hype or buildup on a nothing PPV?
WWE did the same thing with Ric Flair in early 2008 and it sucked then too. As if Mr. Kennedy was going to retire Ric Flair at No Way Out!

It will be boring if Angle just beats everyone and gets the belt (even if the matches are all great), but there's still plenty of time to add something more to the storyline.

I like the "Angle starts at the bottom and works his way up" thing, but the part I don't like is that Kurt has seemingly gotten a free pass to mow through TNA's top 10 guys without a chance of loosing. Sure, we get good matches, but there is no suspense.

I have a feeling it might come to a head with Joe.
And then we'll get a retread of that feud. Though I don't think I'd mind.
