First he actually insists on burying Dolph Ziggler to the point of nearly being released, then he buries CM Punk, and now he has injured a top star and is somehow rewarded with a spot in the Fatal 4 Way, which I'm sure that he groveled to someone to do. Ugh.
People always rag on Hunter for backstage politics, but Rey is just as much, if not more, at fault. He is worse than John Cena, in my opinion. At least John has put over more people than him. When's the last time someone went over Rey? I honestly can't remember. If I can remember, the only times CM Punk beat Rey was because of the masked man. Hell, even Randy Orton put over more people.
What if Rey injured Kofi Kingston? Would he be awarded the IC championship for his punishment? It makes no sense to do that at all. If he wins the Fatal Four Way and become the WHC, then that is the absolute last straw. He's so freaking protected, that he probably has a good chance at winning.
Here's what the WWE needs to realize. When all of these guys like Rey, Hunter, and Taker leave the company, their gonna need to get their head out of their rear ends and start building some new starts. They have shown signs of that lately with Swagger, Miz, Sheamus, R-Truth, and maybe Bourne. However, I'm afraid guys like MVP, Ryder, and Morrison are doomed to to be stuck behind the glass ceiling because of people like Rey, who insists that he should go over everybody and be a glutton for the spotlight.

Well when you are the #2 seller when it comes to merchandise and that does play a big part in the roll and all the little kids love you, again plays another part in the roll, you are going to get the perks to go along with the fame. Although another run as the champ, I highly do not see that happening with the way he flopped as the champ. Only best match as champ he had ended in a draw.

Rey is over with most fans, whether you like it or not. WWE pushes guys that are over. He's busted his ass for years, and earned his popularity.

It's more than likely that WWE Creative(TM) is protecting him this much BECAUSE he moves that much merch. You don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. When the WWE Universe(TM) stops buying those $50 Mysterio masks, you will see Rey jobbed out (and most likely quitting in disgust) in short order.

I think Rey's only saving grace with me is he's still very good in the ring, last year may have been his best year in WWE wrestling wise.
Plus as mentioned he shifts merchandise so why wouldn't WWE push him?

Okay, that's horrifyingly expensive for something likely made for about 2 bucks in China. Thanks for relieving me of my lunch

While most of this is attributable to creative, Mysterio definitely has his own problems. Especially in the way that he screwed over Ziggler, and in the fact that it seems like any time we hear about the man backstage he's bitching about having to follow the rules like everybody else.

Honestly, I don't think the situation with Rey is worse than Cena or HHH. Rey busted his ass for years to get to where he's at now and is still one of the best workers in the company. HHH made his WCW debut in 94. Debuted in WWF in 95, and was prominently featured ever since. Took him 4 years to win his first world title in WWF, and he never looked back. Cena didn't even start training to wrestle until 2000, debuted in WWE in 2002, and won his first world title in 2004.
Rey had already been wrestling for 7 years when he debuted in WCW in 96. Debuted in WWE in 2002. Didn't get a world title until 2006. Dude busted his ass for 17 years and finally got ONE title run. I think the fact that he usually wins his little midcard feuds is not really that big of a deal in comparison to what he probably deserves.

No wonder they push him! $50 a mask has got to be making the WWE & Rey money hand over fist.

It makes sense that WWE would constantly push him to the moon. Besides, he's only doing his job - I imagine. If your boss asked you to do something, you're going to do it. For some reason, I have a hard time seeing Rey as a backstage politics kind of guy. Besides, I have no problem with Rey as long as he produces great matches - which he usually does.

Cena doesn't leave huge gashes in people's foreheads and spend months out of every year in rehab though. Its painfully obvious Rey's body is at least as busted up as Taker's.

Look up what happened with Ziggler. Or, for that matter, all of the complaints from him about being suspended / not being allowed to go work for another company / etc.

Some people act as if Rey is the only wrestler who injuries wrestlers. I remember a couple years ago punk's gts gave a couple of wrestlers blody noses. Goldberg worked stiff and left a few wrestlers hurt.
Granted, The Rey hate has been around for awhile now. But he my surpass HHH and Cena as to which wrestlers gets trashed on this board.
Part is because he injuries wrestlers, The underdog thing has ran its course. IMO, The biggest reason the hate has hit a all time is because he got the best of punk and thier feud. Again, IMO. I know someone will say it has nothing to do with that and some punk fans are upset when another poster says it. Here a few deapperciate thread after a punk loss.
Jeff Hardy deapperciate thread
Unertaker deapperciate thread
Now Rey has on.

There's been plenty of hate for Rey on here long before he feuded with Punk. And hell, I'm okay with Punk losing generally because that's all he really does - my only real problem with the feud itself is that it's been unspeakably awful.

Also... Punk was HARDLY buried in that feud. Even though he lost it, he STILL came out looking good, and the SES mask is an awesome way to stick it to Rey, as well as making him look like a friggen super villain.
