It still doesn't change the fact that if you are instructed not to do something by your boss...you shouldn't do it. She chose alcohol over a steady paycheck so I don't really understand the outrage. Especially if she was told repeatedly to stop.

Are people still going crazy over this?
I don't wish anyone to lose their job but in this case it seems to be her fault.

No. In Short if you have a gimmick where you lead a strict strightedge lifestyle then don't party it up. IT'S PRO WRESTLING. Kayfabe is DEAD. Unless you have someone like Kane going around acting like some f***ing monster in public, then telling other people to live their gimmick in public is STUPID. I can only assume that since you are quoting my post which was in reply to the statement "In short if you are a guy party it up, if you're a woman you better watch it." that you prefer sexism to Kayfabe?

I doubt its sexism,if Luke Gallows went out drinking and all that then he would probably be shown the door as well.Serena is a great talent and seems like a nice enough girl but she really should have done as she was told,we all have to do things that our bosses tell us to do,like it or not.She disobeyed and now finds herself out of a job.

I agree. And after reading a recent interview he did for Slam Wrestling, it sounds like he has given up drinking as part of his current role with the company.... slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2010/08/13/15013966.html

Yeah, but how many of our bosses tell us how we can live our personal lives? I know if my boss told me I couldn't drink in public on my time off of work, I'd laugh.
I understand this is a different situation entirely, but the whole "we all have to do what our boss tells us to do" argument doesn't really fit this situation.

Boogeyman used to go around wearing a scarf around his head to hide his face to keep character. It still doesn't change the fact they are trying to half ass kayfabe. If they are trying to make people believe she is really straight edge, then why aren't they trying to make everyone else stay in character in public? It's just stupid that a company is trying to prevent an adult from having an enjoyable night out. She's not out getting arrested, picking fights with fans, talking shit about the company, etc. Her being straight edge is a CHARACTER on TELEVISION.

I think that if she drank in private during her down time when not on the road, this wouldn't be an issue. However, she was allegedly very drunk while on the road and at times when fans could see her. So it was less of a kayfabe issue and more about WWE thinking that her behavior was becoming a problem.
I wouldn't cry sexism in this case, because WWE has been cracking down on public drunkenness lately. Basically if you are seen as a partier, you are either de-pushed or fired outright. Unless you are a main eventer, of course.

Her profile is still up on the website, and they haven't announced her release yet, so I don't know what's happening.
I was going to raaaaage so hard about this release, but, if all the news is true, it sounds as if it was fair. If you have a performer who is going out and getting drunk on a regular basis, especially after a major event like Summerslam, you're well within your rights to release her. I don't think the issue is that she wasn't living the gimmick, so much as she had a few rough nights on the road and they saw her as a liability.

WWE official: "Serena, your behavior after drinking in public is out of control and unacceptable. From now on, you are not to be drinking in public when you're representing the company."
Serena: "You cant do this to me! I'll have to go home an drink better beer at half the price...and natural lighting! *sobs*"

If Serena is indeed released I'm going to facepalm hard.
WWE badly needs women who can actually put up a decent match. Being able to make Kelly Kelly look good in her first match proves how good Serena is.
I hope they don't pull a "Katie Lea" on her and sends her packing, the WWE women's division needs all the Serena it can get imo.

She is still on the webstie becuase Smackdown hasn't aired yet which features her. And you are correct, its not a kayfabe issue, its a conduct issue. ANd it doesn't matter if she is needed, you don't conduct yourself in a professional matter, you are subject to punishment or job termination.

Are you guys serious?! That's not Serena, what the hell...
This reminds me of the Lady Gaga Is a Hermaphrodite rumor. Some non-credible newz source says "SHES A HERMAPHRODITE!" then everyone jumps on it and claims it as 100% fact.

Yes, she was joking or seeking attention or whatever but it's still a bit more credible than some random source.
