The feelings of betrayal are unique here, I think. A lot of people, for better or for worse, ignore the facts of what he did.

Being that the guy was my favourite wrestler ever it was hard to take. I didn't find out until the Tuesday when I heard it announced over the radio at work (The first wrestling related news I think I've ever heard over the radio) and it knocked me for six. Just wanted to get home after that and find out what the hell happened.

I used to moderate sports forums elsewhere and I remember that the Benoit topic attracted ALOT of people who were very anti wrestling. I had to keep the peace while the (admittedly small) wrestling group were being railroaded.
It looked obvious from the outset he'd done it to me. His entire family had died, that isn't an accident.

When I first heard the news, I thought carbon monoxide too. For a second, I even had an insane theory that Kevin Sullivan snapped and took them out.
When I heard it was investigated as a double murder-suicide, my first thought was that Nancy had shot Chris and killed Daniel and herself (in fact, in the weeks before this, I had a premonition that soon I would hear about a wrestler being killed by a wife or girlfriend in a domestic dispute). And then the report came out that there was no gun, and I though, uh-oh. She couldn't have overpowered him any other way.

Even now, I still find it hard to believe that it happened. I still find it immeasurably hard to seperate Benoit the wrestler from Benoit the murderer. I'm not sure I ever will, in fact.

Not to sound morbid, but my first thought was that he did it.

I'll watch a match that involves him if I happen across it, but I have yet to ever actively seek out a Benoit match to watch, and I doubt I ever will.

I was at a summer camp when I heard about it via USA Today reading at the rec center (smart camp at a University). I was like '...D: whaaaaaaaat?' because I was pretty much a mark back then. I told my mark friend at the camp about it and we both had a sad. (no computer access at this camp btw) Then it was in the paper the next day that it was a double-murder-suicide and I shat bricks. In the bad way. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

First impression...shock and grief. I didn't think Benoit had killed himself and his wife and son, though.

It was late at night when i read it on a wrestling message board, i was playing with some friends who are also a bit into wrestling and basically we all were shocked, we stopped playing and wondered what happened. My first thought that it was something like what happened to Dino Bravo, that Benoit got involved with the wrong people and was killed.
When the facts came out i was even more shocked and couldn't believe it. Sure, Benoit always seemed to be a bit crazy, at least he gave me always a weird impression. But i never ever thought that he'd do something like that.
Unbelievable that it is already 3 years since it happened.

Someone sent me a text message.
The thought that he was responsible never even entered my mind.

In all honesty, I initially thought Kevin Sullivan had killed them. I was 22 and I still believed Kevin Sullivan was an evil enough of a person and hated Benoit to do it.
Then reality struck me a few seconds later.. and well... I figured it was a robbery gone wrong and I just was quiet. Same thing happened to me when Sean Taylor was finally announced as dead... just stayed quiet for awhile.
And then the murder part... it's why I can't get really into wrestling anymore. Benoit was my guy in wrestling. The one I had rooted for for years. The one I played as in World Tour and Revenge for probably a good 100 hours. It'd have been like watching Darrel Green ending up being a murderer to me.
(PS I am a Skins fan if you could not get that from the names)

I actually found out about it when I logged onto wrestlecrap after I got off of work and saw the front page that said Wrestlecrap is deeply saddened by the loss of Chris Benoit. My first thought was heart attack just like Eddie.

I wasn't watching at the time, so I didn't find out until I think Tuesday once it had already been determined to be a murder/suicide. I was just sickened more than anything.

I thought "My god, that's awful" and theN I thought "I hope it was just carbon monoxide poisoning instead of murder. I never suspected that it was a double murder/suicide so when that news came out, you could have knocked me over with a feather. sigh.

hmm I heard it on the local news. It was weird cause I just remember walking past the TV and my mom told me that one of the WWE wrestlers died again. I has stopped watching wrestling shortly after the Eddie death as I saw no reason to watch anymore ( take note I was a 10 year old mark) When I saw it was Benoit a flashback to WrestleMania 20 (my first live WM) and remember he had been great friends with Eddie. I found it ironic. And assured myself he had died like him(heart issues). Then they said it had been a double murder suicide that's when I immediately thought Eddies death really had hit him and he had lost it ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)
