When you first found out it happened, the day of that PPV. Not when they found out that it was actually his entire fault.
I remember looking around the internet and seeing the headline on WWE's main site and thinking it was a work at first but then, it kept spreading around.
From what I remember, most people thought someone had murdered his entire family, not him.
I know, not very current and I wasn't a big fan of him in the least but I do remember the reactions that day before the whole story came out the next day or so.

The same thing I think now even with the news of Exodia the Forbidden One's deed, what a tragedy.

The same thing I think now even with the news of Exodia the Forbidden One's deed, what a tragedy. Exodia, what a flashback. I was great at that game. I remember the reactions, people thought it was all kinds of things. Carbon Monoxide, Kevin Sullivan, another wrestler, burglary gone wrong, etc etc. But then as the news came in, everything changed. Surreal.

Exodia has always become my smarky name for Benoit, in that the mere mention of his name thanks to the emotion of what happened generally equals thread over, just like getting the Exodia pieces equals game over. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I was stunned. I was kinda shellshocked. I couldn't find the words to say anything. My 1st thought was carbon monoxide poisoning. That was the only conclusion my brain came to. Double-murder-suicide was the LAST thing I would've guessed. I told my mom & "He did it" was the 1st thing out of her mouth. I was sure she was wrong...

Well at NoC, I was angry cos I was really looking forward to Benoit/Punk. I was also massively disappointed cos Nitro had won the belt, which meant that if Benoit had been there he'd have been champ. Yeah, I was a big Benoit mark, even considered him one of my heroes when I was a kid. I didn't go on the web at all that Monday so I didn't find out until I saw the graphic opening Raw. Shock is really the only way to describe how I felt, it just seemed surreal to see his picture against that black background. I remember thinking "this has to be a storyline" but that lasted for like half a second cos I knew they'd never stoop that low. Then hearing that his wife and son were dead too, I figured they were either murdered, or as someone else said, something like carbon monoxide. Sat there in shock for a while, then snapped out of it and began texting my friends to let them know. Bear in mind RAW airs at 2 in the morning here. Spent the rest of the Raw watching the show and being on here where everyone was pouring their hearts out and providing links to news. By the time I went to bed at 5, it was only just coming out that Benoit might be responsible for the whole thing. Went to bed hoping that wasn't the case, but by the time I woke up it was confirmed.

I was hopping it was a robbery gone wrong...or a crazed fan...something, but not Benoit doing the deed to his own fam.

At Night of Champions we only knew stuff about them being sick. Someone was puking blood, someone else was sick.
It wasn't until Monday morning till everyone saw that he was dead.

I was thinking the carbon monoxide or robbery gone wrong or even an insane obsessed fan.
All three of those options, however unlikely, seemed far more likely than what actually happened.

I was crushed, Benoit was my favorite for years. I watched the biography part of his DVD set, had a couple of beers and cried a bit. Then came the news, and it felt like pure betrayal.

Didn't watch the PPV, and found up the following morning the news in the Atlanta suburb, and I was hoping that it wasn't a murder/suicide.
Turns out, it was...
Truth was, I was REALLY looking forward to the outcome of Benoit/Punk at the PPV, because I figure that, even in the Brand That Everyone Forgot, Benoit as champ would be nice, and I was just following wrestling for about 3 and a half months then.

Oh man, I was really upset because he was/ is the wrestler I enjoyed watching the most. I thought it was a burglary gone wrong but when the details came out, I just couldn't stop thinking, "Why would he do this?" This was one of the worst days in wrestling, other then Eddie passing, in this decade.

When it happened..I was in disbelief. I looked on WWE.com and it said that he was found dead in his home. I figured it was someone from a Mafia or something that killed him and his family.
Never in my wildest dreams did I know that he killed himself and his family..

I didn't find out until that Tuesday. I'd not been watching hardly any wrestling so had no interest in the PPV and what bits of the McMahon angle I saw didn't make me watch Raw. So, I'm working Tuesday, and someone calls and says "Did you hear about Chris Benoit?" Right then I knew he was dead, but said "No, what?"
Then, I was shocked. I was like "holy god, he really did lose it after Eddie died." I went home, watched the coverage on HLN and CNN, getting upset with the coverage but still wanting to know as much about what happened as possible. Of course, I heard that Raw was a tribute show and the media took that and blew it up, so I had to watch ECW.
Thankfully, that night's ECW was a fantastic show.

I was too shocked and upset to start going into any theories of what might have happened. It wasn't until the next night that the horrible realizations came for me.

I was devastated. I definitely didn't know what to think at first, but the last thing on my mind was that he murdered his family.
I cried a little, it was upsetting, being that he was probably my favorite wrestler at the time, so meh, it was hard.

Everything but what actually happened ran through my head. I woke up from a small nap, turned on my computer and thought it was a robbery gone wrong, or like a previous poster said, carbon monoxide. But when I found out what really happened, I tore my Chris Benoit poster down spat on it and threw it away, and kinda kicked myself for supporting a man who could do this. But, time went on, and I decided to remember him as what he was, a man who truly sacrificed everything for his love of this crazy, crazy business.

When I first heard about it, I was shocked as hell. I was sure to watch RAW that night. Felt sad, shocked, but I managed to hang in there. When the revelation happened, I was even more shocked.
