Kane.
He is often referred to as the red monster or the big red machine.
However, I prefer to call him, "The man with all the tools except a brain".
Now I can back it up. As you all know, Kane was OFFERED by Taker to have be the person to beat Taker at Mania and end the streak. Kane said no. I mean come on, thats like saying, "Nah I dont want a legendary career, I want to be mediocre". And over the past years he has been doing just that. First of all once he lost the mask, he became extremely lazy which u can see by how fat and out of shape he is. Maybe if he didnt get so fat, WWE would be pushing him.
Second, I also read a lot how Kane does not do politics backstage or ask for pushes and always wants to job. Thats retarded, its like going to your job and saying, "Eh u can not pay me this week if u want its okay", thats just mad dumb.
I think if Kane was smarter, he would be a legend by now. He would have ended Taker's streak and had many more world championships, but unfortunately he is now just a fat pale jobber who no one really cares about anymore.
Its a shame imo and the bad part is he did it to himself!

lol. How can you get mad at him for being a modest guy? Alright, he doesn't want to be pushed at this point in time. It's safe to say Kane is past his prime, so what would he really get out of being pushed? And he puts younger people over because he wants to make bigger stars of the younger talent, so if anything, you should appreciate him more for that alone, because it's extremely rare that you come across a guy who's been in the business for years and is actually willing to put talent over, especially younger talent.

I don't think the streak existed at WrestleMania 14, therefore beating The Undertaker would have meant as much as beating him on any other PPV. Him not doing any backstage politics does not mean he is stupid. It means that he actually has some integrity.

I mean come on, thats like saying, "Nah I dont want a legendary career, I want to be mediocre". Evidence? Oh, whatever, this is wrestling, none is ever required. No, it's like saying "Hey, I respect you 'Taker." Look, Kane probably doesn't give two shits what a bunch of marks will say about his legacy in a fake-ass "sport" when he retires. Kane is not a mark for himself. And over the past years he has been doing just that. First of all once he lost the mask, he became extremely lazy which u can see by how fat and out of shape he is. Maybe if he didnt get so fat, WWE would be pushing him. Kane is more and more out of shape because Kane is 43 years old and has to maintain a certain 'monster' size, which means as he gets older, he can either carry more fat, or become scrawny thin. And besides that, he's so over he doesn't need to stay in shape. He's not Chris Masters, his gimmick was never about how cut he looked. Second, I also read a lot how Kane does not do politics backstage or ask for pushes and always wants to job. Thats retarded, its like going to your job and saying, "Eh u can not pay me this week if u want its okay", thats just mad dumb. Uh, no. It's like going to your job and not... playing politics. And then getting paid well anyway without having the pressure of ensuring the company's well-being. I think if Kane was smarter, he would be a legend by now. He would have ended Taker's streak and had many more world championships, but unfortunately he is now just a fat pale jobber who no one really cares about anymore. Kane will probably be regarded as a legend anyway. He's a HOF lock at the very least. And again, Kane is probably not a mark for himself. The world title is just a prop. Its a shame imo and the bad part is he did it to himself! I'm sure he cries every night because despite being in good health at 43 and making cash over fist by working low-risk matches, the WWE never gave him a fake-ass belt.

Kane not ending the streak was the right choice and I have a lot of respect for the business smarts Mr. Jacob's exhibits by realizing that it'd be a bad move even though it'd put him over.
He's old now, let's face it he probably doesn't want the pressure of the main event scene and having to put on five-star matches if he got the belt. He is very suitable in his role of putting younger talent over and it seems like he likes it there.

With all due respect, this is the most uneducated post i have seen on this site in a long time, and thats saying something. Ill begin with the comparison to not getting paid and move on from there. Where did you read Kane was working for free? Cuza not getting paid to work, and choosing to "job" are 2 seperate things entirely. Being a gatekeeper(which is what Kane is) is more important than a main eventer to the long term stability of a wrestling program. Kane has been one who NEVER had an issue putting anybody over. I think wrestling needs MORE Kanes. Kane has a job for life with the WWE, what good would giving Kane the rub from ending the streak do for Kane anyway? Thats a rub to save for your next big thing as a promoter, not to use on a quality but aging superstar. Kane knows this and the business of wrestling better than you seem to give him credit for. He always has been a supremely athletic seven footer..... Fat? Yea, cuz fat people alyways do flying clotheslines from the top rope, juping half the ring in the process.... IDK, your entitled to your opinion, but i just happen to think its spoken without any use of common sense or a larger picture view. As i said earlier, wrestling needs MORE Kanes.

Wow, fella. Kane ending the streak would have been a disaster. He realized this and humbly said no. That in and of itself makes him one of the best kind of people you want in the locker room. As has been previously stated, Kane is undoubtedly a HoF, 1st year IMHO.
But then again you may be trolling and if so, well played, sir.

As i said earlier, wrestling needs MORE Kanes. At least 100 Kanes. Man, it is very rare for a guy who's not protective of his spot, who's not some bitter old wrestler who wishes he was still 30 and it was the 90s again, who's not a backstabbing power hungry asshole who wishes he was a big draw like Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock but will never come close. Guys that prepare the future of wrestling, guys who know when it's time to fade out and trust the younger generation...Kane is the epitome of that, and there's no shame in that.

As a huge Kane mark, I would love to see him do something huge with his career at this point. But I also recognize that he doesn't need it. I love not only Kane's character, but the man Glenn Jacobs. He deserves so much respect. What a great guy.

I'm glad to see this turning into the Kane Appreciation Thread.
Kane is the epitome of what a veteran should strive to be.

I think Kane will go down as one of the best big men in the history of the business. Yeah, he didn't win many titles, but honestly, he never wanted to. In a business where so many people become marks for themselves, it's so refreshing to see a guy that would rather put over a young guy, rather than stifle his progress in order to hold his spot. Kane knows he is going to be over with the fans no matter what, so he doesn't have to win titles or destroy ever opponent he faces. I personally like it, and will always have nothing but respect for both Kane and Glen Jacobs.

Bill? Ted? Back on topic, I have to agree with the previous posts. Kane/Glenn Jacobs is a very smart man. He knows his place on the roster, he's obviously happy with it, and at this point in his career he realizes he doesn't quite need that big "rub" as much as the future superstars. They're the ones the benefit from Kane's experience. So, yeah, to sum up: Nothing but respect for the man and his character.

It could be that he is a modest guy, but it might be that he is smarter than that. He has been there for a long time, and I believe he peaked at about the right time that he got a lot of stock options when the IPO first was established. Because of that, he might think that it is in his long term best interest to build new stars that the company, and by extension himself, can make a lot of money over the years.
