Tyler Black has an interview in the Sun Newspaper that can be read here: www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/3133781/ROH-champ-Tyler-Black-says-WWE-move-was-a-no-brainer.htmlThe most interesting part of the the interview for me is where he talk about NXT and says this "I think Colt Cabana was unlucky that NXT wasn't around when he was in WWE, he would have been perfect for it." Do you agree with this statement? I certainly do, I think with his natural charm and charisma Colt (or Scotty Goldman) would have gotten over huge from NXT and I think his WWE would have panned out quite differently. It's a real shame Colt was not around for NXT.

Agree as well. Don't know if he would've won, but he certainly would've done good enough to stick around anyway.

Yeah, it would have helped, as he would have at least had the opportunity to show his stuff, and the fans no the internet would have voted for him in droves.
Cabana, like, it's frustrating, whenever someone brings up him, Shawn Spears or Jay Bradley (which doesn't happen that frequently, but recently in the past few weeks they were brought up on this board, and on the "wrest" board with that new WWP promotion). WWE is supposed to be about opportunity, and people are given the opportunity to make lots of money and become famous. But, if you're not pushed and the company doesn't get behind you, or care about you getting ahead, you're screwed.
I've used this expression too much, but it can't be said enough. The old expression, getting a turn at bat. Well, Cabana got a turn at bat. Except, instead of trying to hit the baseball with a baseball bat, he was given a noodle. And, the guy actually hit the ball with the noodle (getting some reactions from the crowd, his own WWE.com show), but I guess he has to hit the ball out of the park with the noodle, and he didn't.
And it pisses me off, because you get some guys, to use that same analogy, who get a corked bat, strike out three times, and the umpire goes, oh, you can get another shot, try again. It's awful, and it's ridiculous.

I never understood why Cabana left. Did he request his release or did he get endevoured?
It seems strange that WWE let him go when he seemed perfect for WWE, he had the mic skills, the comedic talent, his ring work was suited to WWE Style, he wasn't a small guy, he was friends with CM Punk who had made his way to the main event, and had been given his own WWE.com show.
Just seemed very odd with all that going for him his was let go without ever being given a chance to shine on TV.

Why can't they just bring him back for NXT. Have Punk be his pro, and do a deal where they're real life friends, they live a few blocks away from each other (which they do), and build on that, but keep Punk heel, and Colt babyface.
So, let's say Cabana is having a match. Punk trips the leg of his opponent, and Cabana gets the win. Of course, he finds out that Punk actually helped him win, and he doesn't want that. He gets on the mic and says he doesn't want to win like that, and wants the match restarted. And Punk is livid, saying that he had the match won, blah blah blah. Cabana loses. He walks down the isle with his head down, and Punk is holding his head, asking him, what were you thinking? Like, not berating him, like, calling him names or anything, but just in shock that Cabana could do something like that.
And they could build that throughout the weeks. People could ask him, why are you friends with this guy, this guy is a douche, and Colt could be like, I try to stay out of his business. Just, slow build, to the eventual break up and feud.

Yep, Colt being mentored by Punk would've been money.

Colt got endevoured & I think Colt would have been perfect for NXT. Wasn't he offered a job as FCW colour commentator without wrestling, which he turned down?

Yeah he was...but eh.
Thing is, they can't just keep having NXT shows that last 3 months and find places for all the guys on the shows. It's already why they had to switch to the diva format for season 3.
And with the girls, some of them really WILL be gone after it's over

Hell, I think Colt even said himself he'd be great for it. He's got a knack for physical comedy, so he would have made the challenges work.

There's a shoot interview with solely Colt, I think on his 'coltmerch' website, and I THINK I downloaded it. I can't be sure if it is, but in it (at least the one I have and I'm sure it's the same), he talks all about his time in WWE.
From FCW, etc.
To me, NXT wouldn't have worked out for him. If they didn't want him, which clearly throughout the whole thing they didn't give two rats about him, it wouldn't have mattered. NXT is just a show, probably rigged anyways. At least the challenges are.

Yeah, Colt would've been good for NXT. I imagine they would've had Cole rip on him too, but Cabana would probably have been able to respond.
He would've been jobbed to Husky Harris and Eli Cottonwood as well though. Gotta pay those dues!

Yeah Wah Wah alot of guys would've been luckier if NXT was around when they were. Nobody's whining about it, least of all Colt himself. Black was asked a question and he gave a pretty accurate response.

Colt would have been lucky to been placed on ECW instead of Smackdown. While i love NXT, ECW did a far better job of getting people over. Colt, Yoshi and Goldust would have been a trio for the ages. And he would have been able to have matches with a lot of good wrestlers.

NXT is just a show, probably rigged anyways. At least the challenges are. I agree with this, but also think that if Colt slipped enough TV time being Colt, he'd have to get himself over. I've seen a few NXTs, a lot of these dudes are freaking driftwood. Colt is a live wire. So long as the didn't eliminate him on day one, he'd probably be alright. The last thing they'd want is for their audience to embrace him and then not sign him, right?

I agree with Tyler. Colt would have been allowed more freedom to improvise on the mic and to stand-out during challenges. Michael Cole would have targeted him, but he would have more chances to use his natural charisma and skills to get over with the crowd.
