I've always wondered how Tessio was killed in The Godfather. Is it explained in the book?

Although it was pretty funny, I'll nominate Boris the Blade getting blown to pieces with a Desert Eagle by Bullet Tooth Tony in Snatch.
One blast from that thing would leave you in a pretty f-ed up condition, but 7-8 shots? That's nasty just thinking about it.

I've always wondered how Tessio was killed in The Godfather. Is it explained in the book? Not the original book. But I believe in The Godfather Returns it reveals that he was shot.

Nino Schibetta. Fed ground up glass over the course of a few months and dies from internal hemorrhaging.

No country for old men.
An offscreen kill so horrifying, it ruins the entire movie!

I'd echo The Lovely Bones Susie Salmon.
Otherwise the model from American Psycho. One scene you see her the next her head's in the refrigerator behind the sherbet.

I nominate anything from Se7en since the majority of the "sins" were never shown on camera, just the aftermaths (but yeah Lust was screwed up). Event Horizon is another (Liberate tuteme ex inferis). Can American Beauty count? {Spoiler}I mean, we know Lester dies, we see the blood splatter on the wall, but the actual death takes place off camera. For horrific in terms of the plot, I'd nominate Alien 3. {Spoiler}Newt and Hicks both die, offscreen with no send-off. Everything Ripley fought for was gone just like that. Complete bullcrap.

Up related: {Spoiler}Does the one from Up count? Falling is not exactly new to movie deaths, but his look of horror as he falls through the clouds just chills me, even if he has it coming.
Also notable would be some of the kills in Incredibles. NO CAPES!

No country for old men. An offscreen kill so horrifying, it ruins the entire movie! Which one would that be? (I think I may know which one you are talking about - if it is, I don't think it ruins the movie).

Does Leatherface actually kill anyone onscreen in the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"?
I remember he knocks one guy out with a hammer, puts one girl on the meat hook, and I seem to remember him running at Franklin with the chainsaw, but I'm not sure any of them were ever killed onscreen.

I remember he knocks one guy out with a hammer, puts one girl on the meat hook, and I seem to remember him running at Franklin with the chainsaw, but I'm not sure any of them were ever killed onscreen. He clocks two guys with the sledge hammer on screen. I think it's safe to say that the sledge killed them both and didn't just KO them. Franklin is killed with the chainsaw on-screen, but you can't really see the violence of it because it's so dark. You can see some blood spraying onto Sally and Leatherface but compared to the majority of horror films, most of it does take place off screen. You certainly never see his face or any close ups of the chainsaw entering his chest.

ok I will say it Nauls from "The Thing" he hears a sound.....and you never see him again. That is true. It's somewhat scary that he just disappears from the face of the earth. And as for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that's half the beauty of the movie. People back then swore up and down that it was one of the goriest, sickest movies they had ever seen, but Hooper and company accomplished that with almost no bloodshed, just atmosphere. Hell, Sally mostly gets bloodied up at the end from her crashing through a window and falling a story.

How about the burning of the church in The Patriot. You see it start to go up in flames, but you don't specifically see any of the deaths. That was pretty rough as a kid.
