It almost seems like we're getting closer and closer to the end of the brand extension, at least considering the decreasing talent pool due to injuries. When you got people upset over Mark Henry going down, you know something's up (I have nothing against him, but his hate suddenly dropped, recently). So by the time things are all said and done, how would you rate the brand extension? I can't say it was good nor bad, but it certainly gave many guys a chance when they wouldn't have gotten it had the company not split. Bottom line, it was just great to see Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero both as champions at the end of Wrestlemania XX. So I'll say things were decent. Thoughts?

Not the greatest thing ever, but it made it easier to skip SmackDown!, I'll say that much.

I'd say failure. SD!-brand PPVs (and most RAW-branded PPVs for that matter) consistantly have low buyrates. SD! TV ratings are generally on the low side of things although that can likely be blamed on inconsistancies with the whole UPN network splitting up.
Once most of the top stars were moved to RAW, everyone knew that SD! was truly treated as a B-Show.
They probably shouldn't and likely couldn't end the extension b/c of how they've extended PPVs and the roster itself but I doubt the extension lasts until the end of the decade.

They could have done more with it. They could have had a wrestler's contract expire and him see what the other show is offering. Trades between the shows. Have a guy always complaining about his contract and holding out. It would have given them a new angle to go with.

I really bellyached about the brand extension, but like most things wrestling I eventually came to accept it. I agree it made sense business-wise, at least as an attempt, and it doesn't affect me directly so much since I don't get to actually directly watch a lot of wrestling anyway.

^ Yeah, I got pretty upset about the extension too. I thought it was a dumb idea, but then I just figured hey, it's wrestling, what else is new?

The only reason for the brand extension at all was b/c wwe needed competition so why not fight each other. but now we have TNA so what now?
