Eh, I figured I'd share this. As lame as it is spending Saturday nights by myself, at least I've got some company in the form of late night horror hosts! First up (from the Detroit area), 10 PM signals the start of Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In! www.chillerdrive-in.com/index.htmlThen at midnite, I switch channels and pick up local (Pittsburgh area) favorite The It's Alive Show: www.theitsaliveshow.comBoth shows feature copious amounts of corny jokes, but Wolfman Mac has a tamer, closer-to-the-1950s sensibility and slightly more polished production. It's Alive is a more modern show, with metal/punk performances and more risque jokes, not to mention the crude (in an endearing way) production. Both shows feature (with rare exceptions) public domain movies, but Wolfman Mac has a tendency to edit out unnecessary crap, or speed up stuff that's way too slow in the film's original format. ANYWAY, I know we're all Joe Bob Briggs fans, but does anyone have fond memories of old local horror hosts (or even current ones)? And, if not, at least you guys can see how I spend my Saturday nights (you can even WATCH The It's Alive Show at the site I linked).

I've been virtually shut out during my entire lifetime, and it really makes me jealous of the folks fortunate enough to have them in their area. All I get is TCM Underground and AMC Fear Friday, and those are getting increasingly lamer all the time.

We used to have a Friday night Horror/ B Movie show called The Graveyard Shift on one of our Cable channels hosted by a very easy on the eyes lass named Tabitha.
They would show Roger Corman movies, Troma, Some Anime, Tobe Hooper stuff like eaten alive, and would have an annual competition for short films where people could make their own horror shorts that would get shown on TV, now the channel shows nothing but crap like Will and Grace and Sex and the City.

Just a little curio, the original demo version of He's Back (The man behind the mask) I actually prefer the final version of this song. The only good thing about the Constrictor album

I noticed they were running Wolfman Mac on the THIS channel, it's pretty cool to see someone airing a horror host show in this area.

THIS shows horror on Saturday nights, too, but they don't have a host. By the way, THIS was where I watched HAUNTED HOUSE OF HORRORS and SLEEPAWAY CAMP II, which I posted some reviews for earlier in the thread.

THE WICKER MAN (2006) - I've wanted to see this one for awhile. Finally bit the bullet. The film stars Nicolas Cage as a police officer (Malus) in search of a missing girl. The girl belongs to a strange religious sect living on a secluded island off the coast of California. In his quest to find this little girl (the daughter of a woman Malus was once engaged to), Malus, to the chagrin of the inhabitants of the island, discovers bits and pieces of the sect's female-centric culture, including their subjugation of men and their fascination with bees. But some elements of this estrogen-charged culture remain a mystery to him, and if he can't unravel that mystery soon, there may be dire consequences for the little girl, Malus's ex-fiancee, and even Malus himself... I came into this movie with a lot of negative expectations. There's clips on Youtube that feature some of Nic Cage's less subtle scenes. But after watching VAMPIRE'S KISS, which features perhaps the pinnacle of Cage's overacting prowess, anything he does now that seems hammy to others seems kinda subdued in my estimation. Granted, I'm a Nicolas Cage fan anyway, but I started out liking him in that "so bad its good" way, and ended up a legit fan of the man's work. I actually felt for Malus as he went searching for the missing girl, and as the film reached its climax, my stomach was in knots for him. Beyond that, the rest of the cast does a splendid job making the island, Summersisle, seem menacing, mysterious, and creepy. The music and the cinematography adds to this sinister tone, and gives a real sense of isolation for Malus as an outsider to these strange people and their customs. 4.3 stars out of 5. As I said, I went in with low expectations, and found myself surprised (in a good way) with the end results. Feel free to take away my "Right to a Cinematic Opinion" card.

I watched an 11 year old for a while this summer, brought wrestling and some childsafe action movies, but he took one look at my copy of TCM 2 and turned out to only be interested in watching horror. And his mother lets him see them.
He thought he was so tough, 'show my anything, no way can you scare me', practically puffing out his chest.
To his cedit he did finish what I showed him but he spent more time asking me questions about the movies than actually paying attention to the screen.
He was so pissed at me because I refused to let him see I Spit On Your Grave.

He was so pissed at me because I refused to let him see I Spit On Your Grave. You know what's funny. Some day, when he's older, he may seek out ISOYG. If he avoids the remake, he'll come back and thank you for not letting him watch it. No one even at that age needs to know the horror of bottle rape. Along similar lines to your story, I have three brothers which I am the oldest. This happened several years ago when the boys couldn't have been older then twelve. Now the middle younger one, Josh, is a horror fan like me. He has no problem watching the same sick, depraved stuff I watch. So one day Zack (the oldest younger brother), Josh, and one of their friends were playing in my room. I decide to pop in Evil Dead II. Now the noys want to pretend like they can hang like their older brother. We get to the scene where Ash is chopping off his hand and Zack bolts out the door crying. I ended up scarring my brother for several years because of that scene. It would be a couple years before we watched a horror movie again which turned out to be Halloween III. He's still not a fan of the genre, but he does watch some horror films sometimes.

Happy Friday the 13th folks! Exactly what I came in here to say. Truly a glorious day for all horror fans, and sometime today, every one of us should take in our favorite movie in the series featuring a certain hockey-masked serial killer. My personal best is The Final Chapter - this flick, to me, is the EPITOME of what "slasher cinema" was all about. Lots of nudity, lots of gore, lots of completely ridiculous stuff, some surprisingly GOOD ACTING...it all adds up to one of the most downright FUN movies of all time, Also, there's a few final thoughts on the Ju-On/Grudge movies over at my blog for anyone interested.

I'm more prone (just like everybody else) to the awesomeness of Jason Lives. Just a great return-to-form for the series, with some well-balanced humor and of course...the stuff that made the series so damn great at times.
Definitely my favorite trailer out of the series. Gives you an absolutely creepy vibe.
Here's a good question that will get this thread some activity? What's your favorite kill in the series? I'll even allow any movie in the series on this one.
And if you want a crash course, here's a list of all of them. Pft, like you need to know there's a violence warning on this. Hell, there isn't even one. This stuff is tame to the NTH degree. ;D

It's either Final Chapter or Jason Lives for my favorites out of all of the Friday the 13th movies even though I like all of them.
Edit: Favorite kills: the Sleeping Bag death in Part 7(and the redux in Jason X), the triple decapitation in Jason Lives, and the speargun in the crotch in Final Chapter. 2nd Edit: adding the wheelchair kill and the double impalement in Part 2.

My favorite film in the F13 series: in terms of actual good horror film storytelling, Part 2. In terms of "so bad its good" cheese, Part 5 or 8 (depending on my mood).
My favorite kill: Punching that boxer's head off in Part 8.

Always been a big fan of part 7 with Jason Lives not too far from it. Thought the Reboot was even good. This is one series that shouldn't be dead along with the Elm Street one

Gotta agree with BearDogg on the sleeping bag of doom from The New Blood as my favorite kill in the entire series, although the triple decapitation from Jason Lives gives it a run for its money.

I'm late for the F13 party but here we go:
Jason Lives and New Blood are my favorites (mainly due to Kane Hodder's awesome Jason makeup)
I still hope one day I can find the uncut kills or Paramount wises up to put them on DVD.

"I want to play a game..."
"We've already played like 10 games."
"I. Want. To. Play. A. Game."
"Keep it up and you'll go to bed with no desert."
"I WANNA PLAYA GAME!"
"Sigh...okay. What is it?"
"Hungry Hungry Carnivorous Hippos!"
"That's it. Go to bed. Right now...and take off that stupid pig looking mask."
