And I'll admit that I really liked the Friday the 13th where Jason fought the Carrie-stand-in telepathic teen while Bernie from Weekend at Bernies hammed up every scene he was in.
I still want a sequel with the paramedic. That guy was hardcore. I mean, he was showing absolutely no pain whatsoever for being a regular guy behind the Hockey Mask. Get that guy a prequel, stat.

Roy: Portrait of a killer Paramedic The guy hitting himself with a shot of adrenaline before heading out after some teens. Sewing himself up elsewhere. Covering it up by responding to calls, killing the calls, but explaining he used what was missing on them. Yeah...Don't worry, I'm nowhere near my script writing software.

I remember reading some online report a few years back where Dick Wieand was interviewed by one of the major horror websites out there (it may have been Dread Central, although I'm not sure) where he claimed that Roy's contributions to the series were "substantial," and that it was awesome to play Roy for the first time, considering that "he's the killer for the rest of the series."
Um...did you not see Friday the 13th Part VI there, Dick?

Um...did you not see Friday the 13th Part VI there, Dick? Makes perfect sense. They said they cremated Jason but after Roy was discovered, they decided to cover it up, so they put him in Jason's grave, suit in tact... Perfect sense...yep... Anyway, I finished doing a review for "They Came From Beyond Space" (It's in my sig). It was okay, but rather corny. More Sci-Fi that horror, but aliens trying to take over for mysterious reasons does have a slight horror touch.

Sorry to double post, but I just saw a commercial for the new movie "from the mind of M. Night Shyamalan" called Devil.
And, in all honesty...it looks dumb. That's my first instinct.

I saw the trailer for Devil before The Expendables, and personally I think it looks like it has potential. The "in the mind" part means that he wrote the screenplay, although he's not directing it. Certainly looks a lot more inspired than, say, The Last Airbender.

The TV spot I saw just didn't really make it interesting. It sounds like something I would have seen on the Twilight Zone, but that isn't always a good thing with a 90 minutes movie (Oh hai, The Box). Nice to see the guy licked snozzberries from the beginning of Super Troopers got another job. I remember reading about the movie a while back when they hadn't decided on a title, just the idea of people on an elevator with one of them evil. Guess that matured to the Devil. M Night taking a step back and letting someone direct his story is a good idea. I think he's trying too hard now due to the criticism he receives. Taking a step back could help regain his confidence. And yes, it should be better than trying to shoehorn an entire season of episodes into one movie.

Oh, M. Night...I wrote at length about this subject in some horror thread or another, but no matter what, I will always defend his first three mainstream films as modern masterpieces, and will always believe that the guy is capable of doing amazing things when he's focused on telling a satisfying story and crafting likable, engaging characters, as he did with The Sixth Sense, Signs and especially Unbreakable. That is the MOST frustrating thing about him - we've seen him do such AWESOME films that our (or at least my) hopes are always there whenever his name appears on a new film, and to be continually let down like we have been over the past few years or so...it's become very draining.
It reached an apex with The Happening, at least for yours truly. You wouldn't believe how JAZZED I was to see that movie. It looked like a good, solid, badass return to form for M. Night - a creeptacular story of apocalypse with some gritty, disturbing scenes thrown in as bonuses. Instead, we got Revenge of the Chloroplasts, complete with absolutely HORRENDOUS dialogue and performances. Other than Zombie's Halloween films, that was easily the most disappointed I've ever been in a movie theater.
Having said all that, I'm looking forward to the new flick. Even more so that it drops in September, when my Halloween mood is just starting to kick into full gear.
Seen The Box, MD? I haven't - I was VERY STRONGLY warned against it, seeing that it has the distinction of being the only movie that a friend of mine (who has a crap tolerance just as high as mine) walked out of.

I was warned against The Box by Triple Kelly. With what she told me about it, I'll gladly wait until it's on TV someday as I don't even want to rent it. Oh...one more thing. You eyeing my lemon drink? Nice to see the guy licked snozzberries from the beginning of Super Troopers got another job. He doesn't need another job when he's married to this... That bastard douche. So, I take it he's a leg man.

You eyeing my lemon drink? Haha...that was actually my favorite moment of The Happening, if for no other reason than the line was so amazingly stupid that it broke the monotony.

On the subject of Friday the 13th film series. I have a soft spot for "Jason Lives" always. However for the definitive Jason look, it's gotta be "Final Chapter"

Trailer for Wes Craven's new flick, My Soul To Take. The premise looks interesting and it doesn't look half bad, but damn...who the hell picked that song for the trailer? They deserve a bitch slap.

Has anybody bought Friday the 13th series Blu Ray. I'm thinking about making the transition. Not yet mind, as only parts 1-3 are available in UK and Ireland as far as I can see.
Anyhoo, just want to know if there is a Blu Ray box set or do they come separately. More importantly picture quality wise and feature wise, is it worth making the transition if you already have the DVD set?

Anyhoo, just want to know if there is a Blu Ray box set or do they come separately. More importantly picture quality wise and feature wise, is it worth making the transition if you already have the DVD set? Yeah, only 1-3 and the remake are out so far. Not really sure what happened, to be honest. When 1-3 were re-released on DVD, the first film was released on Blu-ray alongside those. Then, when 4-6 were re-released on DVD, 2 and 3 were released on Blu-ray. And then...that was it. 7 and 8 were then re-released on DVD, but with no new Blu-ray releases in sight. Not sure if it was poor sales or what, but they just suddenly stopped. What's really weird is that those new DVDs I mentioned were sourced from brand new, full HD transfers eventually intended for Blu-ray, so it's not like they'd have to go through the trouble of creating new transfers. A shame, really...The Final Chapter would be great in HD, if you ask me.
