I always find it odd that people are surprised when they find out someone does drugs. Whether people like to admit or not it seems like just about everyone drinks, smokes, or does drugs, yet we always act shocked. So when it comes to Hollywood, I pretty much assume it's a guarantee. I mean these people are "rich, beautiful, powerful, famous" and usually develop a superiority complex. Regardless of how humbly they play to the masses, I mean it's human nature. I just find it almost impossible to believe that with the life they live that they could be clean. And it seems that no one really cares as long as they're making money off them. Sure they act like nothing is wrong to the media but do the managers and executives ever really try to help them out behind the scenes? Other than making sure that they're at least sober enough to make more money?
I just have a hard time believing that all these Disney kids don't meet up somewhere and party, drink, and snort coke, screw and what not together. Maybe a few are clean, but I'd bet money most of them are doing s***. But then again a lot of regular teenagers do too. So why do they get so much s***? I know parents expect them to be role models, because they sure can't be assed to. But come on don't pretend to be shocked when you find out little Hannah Montana is snorting coke and having sex with a 20-something year old dude.

It used to surprise me, but it really doesn't anymore. I think some of the shock comes from, and especially with Disney kids, they don't seem like the type when you see them on TV or what have you. That's why I really was shocked to find out Lovato was in rehab, because when you see them at events and all that they seem fine, but you never really know who's doing shit and who's not.

I'm never surprised when news stories like this come out. I mean, I was 14 years old the first time I drank, smoked pot, and started messing around with girls. It's really no big shock to me when I find out someone a few years older, with much more money than I had at that age, has done things of the same nature.
We're all human, we've all got something in our past that we'd rather not admit to, and that's what makes us people. (and when I say "we all," I don't literally mean every person reading this post/thread.) I just hope, for their sake, that it doesn't end up ruining their lives.

The problem is not when they do, when they DON'T. Michael Jackson is a prime example. He was 30 before he was allowed to be a kid.
Child stars will always be f***ed up, because it's a f***ed up thing for a kid to do. Denis Leary said of Hanson, "What's the drummer, like 6?....'I'm 6 and I have credit cards...what the f***?'"
Miley Cyrus is becoming a risque star? Who would have thought after being Disney-fied her whole adolescence and what with her more than creepy relationship with her father?
Drew Barrymore was an alcoholic by 11, Danny Bonaduce beat the shit out of a transvestite hooker, Michael Jackson did whatever it was he was doing which included an underage Brooke Shields, the kid from Home Alone, his own fair grounds and a chimp at various times, Lindsay Lohan spent all her cash on booze and drugs.
And, so what? I really don't care. I mean, it's kind of sad, but it's that kind of sad where you go, "That's sad...hey look a duck!" and forget about it. I mean, I really don't care.
Their cash, their lives.

^ That's my point. I'm not saying people should or shouldn't care. I personally don't care. I just don't understand this mentally of people expecting them to be normal or live with a higher standard then we can live by ourselves. Even then they are being normal, they are just living "it" on a scale most people don't have, and our laundry isn't being aired in front of the world. People act shocked and point fingers, but we know we're not going to do anything to change them or more importantly ourselves.

It's easy for the average guy to get the idea all is well in teen star land when the media basically shines the sun straight up the asses of said child star. Yeah Justin Beiber is hot right now, but he won't always be and then we'll act all surprised when his 15 minutes run out. Like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Hillary Duff, whoever else. These people are a product now. They have a shelf life and frankly, anyone who's reasonably good looking can do what they do. ANYONE. They are interchangeable and disposable, but it's hard to get that idea when everyone always tells you how special and amazing you are.

Its not surprising. Most people go bat shit crazy when they hit their teens, and if they had that much money and resources its not shocking that they go especially crazy.

There are plenty of child stars who grow up perfectly normal. Some do, some don't. Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are my 2 examples.

They shouldn't do drugs after Slater told them how stupid it was.

Good point, it's a shame though that far more grow up messed up than normal. I fully believe it is parenting. Not to say our parents where bad to allow us to act as we did as young adults. I certainly partied hard in my day but I grew out of it quickly. I am almost 23 and rarely even drink anymore. Lindsay Lohan had some really bad parents who continue to try and exploit her and leech from whatever pool of money she has left before it dries. She was doomed due to shitty parents. I mean it all depends but the kids who are kept on an allowance and forced to stay in school etc. if they are raised to know better than chances are they don't end up like Danny Partridge
