Family Matters turning into The Urkel Show is one that comes to mind. This. Still to this day when I mention Family Matters, more than once, people older than me can't remember which show I am talking about until I mention Urkel. I think they get the title confused with Family Ties, which I think is sometimes confused with Growing Pains and Who's the Boss. Not by me, but others I have dealt with.

I always liked the Jumping The Shark theory, given Happy Days went on for 5 more years afterwards and the viewership increased. It reminds of people who don't do any research [or read an interview in passing] and spout other peoples opinions. I always thought jumping the Shark was "the show is good but it was never the same after ________" Like the start of the slow decline of quality not necessarily viewership. No, it's become synonymous with a full downturn in the entire show, which is the meaning nearly always applied when people talk about Jumping the Shark. When a show increases it's viewership it is not indicative of a decline in show quality, hence why it is flawed. I don't even like Happy Days.

Family Matters has to be the biggest example of this. I can recall almost everyone I knew at the time referrering to the show simply as "Urkel."

The Simpsons turning into The Homer Show around seasons 11/12. Not that I'm complaining, I find jackass Homer hilarious, I love most of those episodes. Lately, one of the reasons the Simpsons has sucked as bad as it has is because it feels like it's become The Lisa Show.

I prefer calling Teach: Tony Danza the moniker "The Tony Danza Show" instead. It sounds more like an unpredictable situational comedy, which it basically is anyway.

I think for The Office it should be referred to as Marrying The Secretary. Because it went to absolute HELL afer that. Seriously, everything just changed. It wasnt like a documentary anymore, it was as if everyone was just acting out in front of a camera.

It seems like South Park's turned into the Randy Marsh Show as of late. Which is fine, because Randy is awesome.
