Colby, and it's not even close. Colby's awesome > Kathy's hilarious laugh.

Jenna and Rupert, who didn't seem bitter, voted for him too. And weirdly, Shii-Ann didn't seem too bitter at the time but she voted for Amber. When people talk about the outcome of All-Stars, you'd think Rob got no votes. But really, he was only Shii-Ann away from winning it. I will say this though, after seeing Rob & Amber work together in The Amazing Race, I have much less of an issue with her winning. I still think it should have been Rob and that the reasons it wasn't are ridiculous but I think she probably deserves more credit than she gets from most.

Just like his time in Australia, Colby dominates another contest and will advance to the next round. Our next match features a pair of one time players, but both winners, squaring off. The thinking man's player vs. the ice man. Two significantly different games, but both equally successful. ROUND 5- MATCH 4Brian HeidikRound 1: defeated Christy Smith Round 2: defeated Alicia Calloway (All-Stars) Round 3: defeated Rudy Boesch (Borneo) Round 4: defeated Danni Boatwright vs. Earl ColeRound 1: defeated Silas Gaither Round 2: defeated Candice Woodcock (Heroes vs. Villains) Round 3: defeated Frank Garrison Round 4: defeated Jonathan Penner (Micronesia)

Hella respect for both these guys as gamers, but I gotta go with Earl personally. Honestly the guy is underrated as far as Survivor players go. He played a near perfect game, and managed to make the final two with two complete goats. He was good. Not perfect or anything, but good. I imagine and accept that I'll be his only vote but I got to give it to him.

I agree, Toates. I think Earl is an overlooked winner and doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves (I also feel that way about the Fiji season. I don't see why people hate it at all - more than one Survivor moment I love comes from Fiji.)
Normally, I'd go right on and vote for Earl too because he totally deserves it. But...Brian. Brian was just amazing. He was this cold, calculating player who was manipulative and ruthless and his game so well rounded that there's no way I can't vote for him. He's not the most warm and fuzzy guy but it barely even matters to me because I think he's that good a player. He's another one who I think is overlooked because he's not flashy and because people don't care for Thailand (another season I like more than most) but who I would completely put in the upper echelon of Survivor winners.
So that long winded shaquila aside...I vote for Brian.

I'm actually with Toates on this one and going with Earl. I love both guys. I did a list of my favorite winners once (I think after Nicaragua) and I can safely say these guys are like, 4-5 on that list. I appreciate both of their games and enjoy both of them as players immensely, so I need a tiebreaker. I think both play well, but I feel like Earl's game is more suited to win at the end. Brian was somewhat lucky that he had a Clay next to him at the end, and he still barely won. Both are fun, but I give Earl the better chance to win Survivor every time he plays.

I see what you're saying but then I remember who it was that voted for Clay and I'm less impressed: Ken who saw Survivor as some sort of character test Penny who saw it being all about her Erin who said she was basing her vote on honesty and then voted for the person who said flat out he lied. That's not to take anything away from Earl, because I absolutely won't. I just think both Earl and Brian worked it out so they were with the right people in the end. I don't think Brian lucked out on that, I think he made it that way. The one thing that gets me about Brian is that where Earl is just a generally likable guy and made no enemies (which there's most certainly something to be said for), Brian had pissed off people in his alliance to get Clay with him at the end and still managed to get their votes - partly because he was up against someone they hated (part of the overall plan) and partly because he just manipulated the shit out of them. Look no further than the complete 180 of one, Helen Glover.

Earl Cole gets my vote. Brian played a great game, but I also think he was on a season with very little strategic opposition.

Honestly with Earl I think if you made some sort of computer program that simulated randomized Survivor seasons or something and ranked all the people who have won the game on win percentage or something like that Earl would have the highest percentage of all of them. And if not at least be top three. Brian I think would be on the upper end but there are quite a few winners who I think would outrank him on pure "winability".
Its not really so much "luck" that he was there with Clay though since just like Earl he identified someone he knew he could beat. But unlike Earl he actually almost lost anyway. I see roxie's point regarding the people who voted Clay, but Clay deserves some credit for actually playing those three jurors shockingly well. Clay is somewhat of an underrated player.

Ridiculously tough to call. No long, thought out response from me though. Going with Earl in an extremely close decision.

Oh I won't take anything away from Clay because he did do a better job with there than Brian did. I just feel as though doing a decent job of winning over, say, Penny (just listen to her talk about herself) isn't as impressive to me as Brian pissing off more than one alliance member and managing to get them to vote for him anyway. This is all for naught, though, because Earl clearly is moving on. And while I may not agree that he's a better player than Brian, I do agree he's a great one so I'm not like, raging or anything lol. This is one of those ones where no matter what, I'm good.

didnt watch fiji, but from what I know, it seemed like Earl, just coasted by not doing much, (Did he win challenges?)and ended up in the final 3 with two goats. Brain did backstabb, but he was great manipulator, and strategist, as well as challenges

Earl didn't win any challenges because he didn't need to. Physical game only ever matters in the tribe stage really unless you end up in a situation where you NEED challenge wins to survive. The best Survivor players don't need to win challenges so a lot of the best Survivor players don't.
Strategically he didn't coast. He didn't run every element of the game [Stacy of all people thought of the move to vote out Edgardo instead of Alex or Mookie to avoid the idol] but the fact that he goat those two goats in the end was in fact the whole reason he was such a good player. Identifying two people who would only win against each other and getting them to the end with him. Great gameplay.
