The Imperial March. Jurassic Park theme. The majestic Superman theme. Indiana Jones theme. The ominous arrival of the shark in Jaws. Schindlers List. Somewhere In My Memory from Home Alone.
I know with his vast body of immortal music one is almost impossible to choose as the best one, but if you had to choose, what would it be?
I would have to say the imperial march. Darth Vader accompanied by that music is hard to touch.

The Imperial March is one of the most awesome pieces of music ever, so I have to go for that. Was also responsible for one of the best pieces of news ever. (Some political content to the video, so focus on the first 30 seconds or so.)

Duel of the Fates was the best thing to come out of the prequel movies.
Harry Potter's music gives me chills at the end of the trailers.
Nothing is as powerful to me though as the Star Wars main theme. Fox drumroll and trumpets, pause, "...galaxy far far away" and them OMFGITSSTARWARSAWESOME!!!!!!! It turns me into a giddy little child, especially in theaters.

I thought this made ROTJ ending MUCH better, Till Lucas added Hayden Christenson ^ Yuck!!!!! I cant accept that as the ending theme as I grew up on the original and watched ROTJ religiously. I love this one!!!!! Playing it while you're driving is awesome. Another great one is the theme that plays in Raiders of The lost ark when the Spirits of death go from faces to heels and do the nazi meltdown.

LOVE the HP scores
And am I the only one who, when watching ANY 20th Century Fox movie, after the company logo fades, starts humming the SW theme?

Pretty much every theme from every movie he's ever worked on. Seriously, this guy is brilliant. E.T. in particular has such a moving score.

Say what you want about the PT, but IMO Williams did some of his best work for it... and "Across the Stars" may be the pinnacle of all the music in all six, honestly. Just an amazing piece of music.

Superman. From the opening, it just fits the subject matter perfectly.
The guy doesn't do anything less than great though.

Superman. From the opening, it just fits the subject matter perfectly. The guy doesn't do anything less than great though. I have to go with JAWS, but otherwise, I agree with this post 100%. I mean, the man can do no wrong in my books, but that theme music from JAWS transcended media to become THE most widely associated SOUNDTRACK period for any animal on Earth. Mention Great White sharks to just about anyone old enough to have seen JAWS and you'll get them humming this theme.

Hands down the greatest theme song ever. I second that...WITH A VENGEANCE lol!!!! \\on the serious tip I always felt that the Indiana Jones theme is more popular to audiences than the Superman theme, but for me the Superman theme is the my theme I'll love most

I love Indy, Star Wars, Jaws and Superman.
But we're forgetting a piece of music that he has also permanently lodged into our brains that reminds us of something.
Gee, what does THIS make you think of?
Seriously, John Williams: musical god.
