Is the scathing 1 star review some people give, Which is fine were all entitled to an opinion, However It infuriates me to no end when said reviewer closes his/her rant with "I never saw this movie and have no intention of doing so".
That right there is the sole reason your "opinion" should be discounted.

Shouldn't this be the one thing you hate about movie reviews?

How does one review a movie without watching it? Surely, you need to give some examples from the film or something.

I can give you at least 5 movies, E.T for example in the comments section on IMDB has a user complaining it should have never won and oscar but never actually watched the film. here's a snip of the quote: " have not seen this film nor have any intentions to, as Speilberg really hams it up, atleast judging by the trailer. I hate this aspect of his directing where he has to provide a sense of innocence in every damn thing he makes" So apparently a trailer is all you need.

Well then stop reading reviews of people who arent professionals. I often don't, but what happens if say someone whose never seen say Titanic goes to IMDB to get som info perhaps and see's a severly slanted review, not that it should sway anyone, but sometiems it does.

Honestly.....that sort of review should really be moderated out in as big a site as IMDB or the like.
I mean they have the "X people found this review helpful" buttons....why not gray out or actually weight down the negatively rated reviews similar to a thumbs up/thumbs down in the comments?

The same thing bothers me on another site where restaurants and other stuff is reviewed and some people just say "Never tried/heard of it" and rate it the lowest score.

I find it worse when professional reviewers are afraid to give popular franchises a low score over fear of looking stupid.
Like FFXIII, that got pretty much 90% and 9/10 or most review websites and magazines which seems to be a case of reviewers giving the game a hugely positive review purely because it's part of the FF series.
If the same, deeply flawed, boring game was bought out as a stand alone title by another developer there is no way it would have gotten such a great review. Same with the COD series.
Movie-wise I've seen it happen with directors known for producing good films or with movies which are considered classics. Reviewers seem to give them positive reviews anyway even though the film may actually not be all that good.

At the same time, it's just as possible that fans of the franchise would be expecting more, and therefore ate it alive when a reviewer didn't come to the game with an axe to grind. Not saying it's the case, just that it's a two-way street.

Reminds me of a horrible comments people leave on youtube accounts. I received one that said "I haven't seen any of your videos and I don't intend to because they all suck."

I try to watch as many movies as possible and like them or not I always watch them before I bitch about or praise them.
I am going to school for a journalism degree and want to review movies here shortly

IMDB message boards are like YouTube comments - best to avoid them. Some of the stuff written there is mind-boggling.

The thing I hate more than that is when I'm talking to someone and they go "That movie was sooooo boring, I could only watch 15 miniutes of it and I had to turn it off"

I hate how on IMDB, people will vote a movie like say, The Descent, a one. I doesn't matter if you HATE that movie, it's not a one. A one is an Ed Wood or something.
But the thing I hate the most on there is when a movie has a high rating, and someone will vote...once again, a one, just because they think the overall rating should be lower. You don't get to decide the overall rating. If a movie has a 8.7, then it should be an 8.7. That's all there is to it. You don't get to decide that it should be a 7.5, or something. The whole point of the voting is to get the general consensus...
