Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said Rhett Bomar was signed because the team needed a "live arm," but he added that Bomar will be evaluated for the future, as well.

Doctors have told Mark Sanchez that he can't make the torn cartilage in his shoulder worse by playing with it.

Coach Rex Ryan admitted that he misspoke on Wednesday and that Mark Sanchez's shoulder is injured enough that he could not play right now.
Kyle Orton (ribs) made it clear this week that he's not happy about being benched for the Broncos' final two games.
Orton obviously believes he could have played through his rib injury. "I said I'd like to finish the season. That wasn't the option that was presented," said Orton. "I don't know if I'll be here next year. We'll just have to wait and see what shakes out with the organization." Signed for $8.8 million in 2011, Orton could be a trade candidate with a new regime taking over in the offseason.

Interim coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Brett Favre failed his concussion test on Thursday.
Favre will take the test again on Friday, and the decision on his Week 16 status could go up to Saturday. The Vikings are game-planning as if Joe Webb will start at Philly.
Coach Mike Shanahan says he would welcome Donovan McNabb back in 2011 if the veteran is willing to return as a backup.
Texans RE Mario Williams underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the sports hernia that landed him on injured reserve last week.

It's like he realizes this is his last chance to continue being considered a great coach, so half the stuff he's done this season has been him puffing his chest out trying to show who the man is.

Rotoworld I don't see the Shanahan/McNabb deal working out. 1) They signed him to that long term deal, so there will always be that pressure to use him. Most starting QBs have to justify their position at some point and McNabb's replacement will have a huge white elephant in the room with him. 2) McNabb will be as disgruntled as hell. Not only could he still start somewhere, but his deal basically requires him to do so in order to make most of that money that he was signed to. 3) Seriously, who needs that headache when you are trying to rebuild? Just trade him to the Vikings or someone like that and get a couple of draft picks for your trouble. You can use the draft picks at this point.

Shanahan has lost his mind. In fact it seems like his master plan for next season involves Rex Grossman playing QB. I'm reasonably certain you can be committed for that type of insanity.
Though, it's obvious for whatever reason he's trying to make sure that Donovan doesn't come back next season. I don't get it.

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton went on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia to discuss the quarterback turmoil in Minnesota. He preached absolute truth.

Even though he is one of his biggest critics, and I have criticized Brett in the past, I will only say this. If Minnesota wants to find out what Joe Webb has as a skillset, they need to get him out there under fire. And as banged up as Brett has gotten this year (he's like a walking M*A*S*H* Unit), maybe he should just sit down so that the Vikes can see what this kid has got? If they're smart, they'll probably draft one and next year's draft. They should be picking high enough that there will be a decent signal caller sitting there.

Coach Mike Singletary is still not ruling out playing both Troy Smith and Alex Smith against the Rams this week.
Seahawks placed DT Junior Siavii (neck) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Hell yeah Carolina is playing a prime time game tonight.... *sees we're playing Pittsburgh coming off of a loss* We're pretty much f***ed tonight... You never know, they could pull off the upset? From what I've seen of the Panthers WRs this year, Pitt could put their entire secondary on Steve Smith, and the other WRs still wouldn't make a play. And I dunno how Carolina feels about Jimmy Claussen. He really hasn't shown that much, but he doesn't have much help. Is it worth keeping with him and passing on Andrew Luck (potentially)
