Finally after a 3.5 year absence, I am returning to college and finishing a degree. Last 4 years have been alright, I've had work pretty consistently however I feel that I need to finish college and get in to Information Technology (which is what i wanted to do long ago). Not having a college degree is really bothering me, I lay awake at night regretting not getting one earlier. It makes me think I'm a failure. I need this, for my self happiness. I return to college at age 25, I don't care if Im 28 when I graduate, still young- still have many many years left working. Wish me luck, this is not going to be easy- it HAS to be done.

I don't think getting a degree at 28 is too old at all. I graduated in 2007 and worked for 3 years then I decided to go to school at 22. It was weird being out of school for so long but as soon as I sat at a desk with pencil and paper, it was all coming back to me.

Its no too bad for me as Im not starting fresh, got some college creds from when I attended back in 04 and 05.

Don't think you're too old. I have a good friend of mine that I've met down at college and he's 30. Just go back in with a good attitude and don't give that "I'm older than all of you" vibe and it will be a good experience for you.

Don't let age get you down. It is only a major issue if you make it one. Just look at this example:
I went to college straight out of high school, graduated on time and the first job I got afterward was at a crappy warehouse full of drug addicts and ITT tech drop outs. My older friend who I met at college didn't graduate until he was about 29 or 30. He also was in the information technology field. Straight out the door he got a job and looks much happier. Plus he met the girl he's engaged to when he went back, so it worked out twofold.
In short, age really isn't the biggest factor in college.

I waited to go back to school until the age of 28. I am 30 now and am about to start nursing school. I ran into a fellow nursing student that is almost 50. It`s never too late.

I've had people in classes that had to be in their late 50s.
Good luck!
