Great movie, though the story about how Kate's father died still disturbs me.
No, seriously, the f***?

Love me some Gremlins. Tiny monsters + Dick Miller = win.

Great movie, though the story about how Kate's father died still disturbs me. No, seriously, the f***? I really liked having that speech in the film, for 2 reasons: 1) It gave us some insight into Kates' character that we'd never have otherwise. Without it, her dislike of Christmas would've just made her seem like a bit of a bitch. 2) It was another means of effectively telling the audience, Yea, you thought this was some Hallmark card family fun fare? Think again!!

This is a movie that could actually use a sequel. Not a freaking remake, an actual sequel.

Gremlins 2 > Gremlins 1
I know, I'm probably way in the minority on that one.

Honestly, I can't say which one's better, because both of movies are completely DIFFERENT movies.
The first one is a Christmas dark comedy/horror movie, while the second one is arguably considered to be full-on satire.

Exorcist? Pft stupid with the devil spouting "Yo mama" jokes.
Friday the 13th? Dumb, cut off his head, arms, and legs, and Jason becomes NO threat at all.
Nightmare on Elm Street? Stupid, Freddy is a pussy...let him come after me in my dreams...he'd learn what a real nightmare is.
Gremlins? OH MY GOD! I have to either cover my eyes or leave the room! I hate this movie so bad because it still scares the shit out of me! Why did my folks have to show this to me when I was only 4???
