I'm 22 and hurt my back while helping my kids babysitter move. I went to the doctor and had an x ray because it was getting difficult just to stand and get out of bed, simple things.
Needless to say I have a 10 degree curve in the lower part of my spine and the disc on my left side have little room which has caused one to become inflamed and is touching a nerve now which is causing pain in my legs and feet.
I did physical therapy for 4 weeks and all seemed to be getting better, then had a slightly busy weekend with the kids and a date (giggity) and the pain was back. So I started going to a chiropractor and am feeling very little pain at all now.
Do any of you have back problems? Is there anyway I can get rid of the small pain I have now or is this something that'll just eventually go away on its own? I've asked my doctor he says it'll go away and the chiropractor says that all should heal but I read stories where the pain never truly goes away and surgery is not something I want to do.

Hurt my back lifting some heavy stuff while moving, mine wasn't as severe as what you are describing, but it still took a doctor visit and some Ibuprofen.

I pulled SOMETHING in my upper back/lower left shoulder area but never went to a doctor. almost 4 months later and I still get an occasional sharp pain down my back when I sneeze. it's slowly getting better but I had to stop my weight routine to get to this point.

Yeah it sucks just because it makes everything you normally do like even putting on a sock difficult.

I have a stress fracture on my L5 and S1 vertebrae.
It's too small for surgical repair, but it's intense enough that the discs around them have inflammed, and I have referred pain shooting down my left leg (and at times into my groin).
I start physical therapy on 1/4/11, and if this doesn't alleviate the pain, then I'm going for the epidurals.
Basically, it's a touch and go situation. On some days, like today, I have some mild discmfort. On others, I have lower back spasms so bad that I lay on the floor for 20 or so minutes.

I got some. Well... the funny thing is that I don't notice it much when I'm doing stuff, but when I'm in bed and not moving much my back, and pretty much everywhere else start to hurt. I've got no problems when working, but I have a very hard time trying to fall asleep, which pretty much makes me feel tired pretty quickly. Pain was way worse a few years ago... ankles/knees were swollen so back then putting on some socks/pants/shoes hurt real bad. Nowadays I just try to avoid wearing footwear with shoelaces since I won't be able to tie them if they get untied when I'm walking outside.

Well sad to say it but glad I'm not the only one with pain shooting down into my foot. If this is what I get for doing a good deed then count me out from now on.
