*note- I'm not picking my College just based on the polls, just need advice.
I'm a Senior and it's time I pick a College. I plan on staying in Ohio, but it's between Kent State and Ohio State for me. I have a great knowledge of films and sports, so I think journalism would be my best fit. I hope to be like a film critic or something. I see that Kent State offers a little bit more in that department than Ohio State. But, I'm also a diehard Ohio State football fan for all my life. I plan on starting in a brach school, before going to the main one in Columbus. I don't know if I want to give up being an Ohio State fan forever. I love football and when it comes to going to either a Ohio State or Kent State game, I would choose Ohio State game everytime. What would you do?

Well, for starters, I wouldn't base my college decisions based on what team I wanted to watch the football games of. Actually, that'd be closer to my very last factor when deciding, right along with what hair color the university president has. If one school has a better program for you than the other, try to go there.
Also... well, I'll just say that you should try to re-evaluate what you want to go to school for. Take it from someone whose been where you're wanting to go, papers don't hire film critics too much.

Do not, do not, do not, I repeat, DO NOT make a college decision based on what football team you like. Just because you go to a school doesn't mean you have to cheer for their team, so that should be the last thing influencing your decision.
In general: Have a good idea of what you want out of your education. Some people know for sure going in, others make up their minds later in their education, but it helps to have some general idea. Find out what you can afford to pay and what you're willing to take with loans if needed. Again, do not choose a college based on football teams.

Ohio State, you get a great eduction, on top of a great college atmosphere. While I agree with what the above two posters said, having two major programs ranked in the top 10 doesn't hurt. Do remember that college isn't all about education.

I don't know too much about either university to be honest. However, I would go with Ohio State University. Not because of the football games or anything like that, but just because of the size of their university system. You seem to have some idea of what you want to do, but are not dead set on it. Having a college with a bigger system allows you to explore more, not to mention having things like better extracurricular activities such as the campus newspaper if you want to be a journalist.
