citybeats.info/2010/chain-stores-bring-competition-to-the-upper-west-side/Finally got to publish this article on our class website. Feel free to comment on it (Especially on the actual site). Rather than just using this thread for a cheap plug though, I thought I'd open it up a bit. Has anyone had any local chains or just local stores closed? I remember when Crispy Creme tried to expand beyond its traditional region and go national. Too bad it didn't work in Massachusetts. I still like Dunkin' Donuts better, but it was good for variety.

Not really.
Even with Walmart Supercenters opening left and right in the Phoenix area, the regional chains out here like Fry's and Safeway haven't seen any decrease in business.
One local chain (Basha's) is struggling, but they were struggling long before the Walmart invasion.
