Yeah, Gintama is really worth a watch. I started watching the show last year (I was caught up on other shows, and a new show to watch.). Currently, I'm up to the 120's of the original show (The new season starts in April). And I have to say its the best of the current Shonen Jumps series besides One Piece. The show does really some great fight scene and awesome comedy.

Let's see, what anime have I watched the past 10 years.
Dragonball Inuyasha (Probably one of the very few fans on this board) Gundam Wing MS Gundam MS Gundam 8th MS Team MS Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory G Gundam (I like Gundam, can't you tell?) Yugioh One Piece Shaman King Sonic X Bleach Full Metal Alchemist FMA: Brotherhood Inuyasha: The Final Act (much better than the first series IMHO) Trigun Outlaw Star Ranma 1/2 City Hunter Big O Detective Conan/Case Closed
I'm probably forgetting some, but yeah, I like a wide variety of anime and manga.

Got to watch the first season of Hajime no Ippo a couple of months ago, and it was definitely way better than the second season. New challenger was okay, but Ippo only had two fights, and one of them was a spar, and the Takamura vs. Bryan Hawk took way too long, though it was good. Both series had kick-ass OPs, in any case:
Manga's one of my favorites as well. In any case, one of the recent manga chapters mentioned DVDs, which is kinda strange since the timeline suddenly jumped forward a whole lot. Anyhoo... also, Alexander Volg Zangief is probably one of the most badass names I've seen.

Eight years later, I can understand the popularity behind Kira Yamato, but I can't understand Lacus Clyne's popularity. IMO, she a bit too Mary Sue-ish for my taste, especially for a character who's supposed to be an expy of Relena. I'm more of a Cagalli fan myself. I haven't seen SEED Destiny, yet.
And there's the rumors that Lacus is to Chiaki Morosawa (Gundam SEED's head writer) as Bella Swan is to Stephenie Meyer, and Ebony Way is to Tara Gillespie.

Gate Keepers... one of the first anime series I watched on TV that didn't get dubbed in English/Filipino and had subs. Ah, memories. I'm not quite sure when I got to watch it, though I am definitely sure that it was before High School, or maybe during the first year of High School. Fun to watch. Just discovered that there was a PS1 game of this before the anime.

You can't talk about kickass openings without talking about Death Note.

The only anime series that I've completely watched was Death Note. Not only did I watch all the episodes, but I watched all the movies and the 2 hour specials. Such an amazing show. I wish there was something else out there like it (and no, I tried reading lost+brain but it was just a Death Note clone with none of the subtlety). Others that I like but just haven't sucked me in enough for me to finish the series includes Monster, Hell Girl, and Darker Than Black. The last 2 are anime's I never would've heard of if not for Netflix. Monster is a great show, but I could never find any English dubbed episodes online. Then one day I turned on Sci Fi channel and it was on and it was in English so I know it exists. Oh wait, my first paragraph was a lie. I also completely watched Cromartie High School. That show was amazing Just remembered a random Manga that I read online. It was called Alive! and was a very short series but was really interesting. Anyone here heard of it? I highly recommend it if you're into darker manga's. Also watched a little bit of One Piece. It's a very enjoyable show but it just hasn't sucked me in. My cousin is a huge fan though, so he's trying his damndest to get me into it.

Trust me, One Piece is really worth watching. Every arc gets better and better. Espically with awesome openings as this.

Josh? Is that you?
Seriously, that's exactly how he does it. "Dude really, it gets better and better with each arch." Then he'll show me some videos on youtube. The only difference is that he ends up going into a long tangent about something awesome that's going on at the moment.
Really, I think the show is great..It just hasn't hooked me like Death Note did. I think my New Years resolution will be to watch the first season in its entirety. If I'm not hooked by then I'll give up.

Well, I'm not that person. But your friend is right, One Piece does get better with each arc.

I didn't like Death Note much, but that second opening song was fantastic.
One of my favorite opening songs was Tenjou Tenge's. The anime wasn't that great though.
Some others I really liked from the last decade: Chrono Crusade, Kiddy Grade, Gurren Lagann. Probably a few others I'm forgetting.
As far as manga goes, I really like the art style of Suzuhito Yatsuda so I've been reading Yozakura Quartet.

After delaying reading it for so long, I'll begin reading 20th Century Boys. Monster is one of my favorites, so I'll probably like this one as well.
Will also read Liar Game as well, since I watched the first few episodes of the live-action and liked it.
Beelzebub is getting an anime next season. Yeah! Right now it's my favorite shonen/action/humor manga series, so I'm pretty excited.

Grander Musashi... the fishing anime, right? Don't remember much of it except that I watched a few episodes on AXN back then.

Notice how Musashi looks like Ash Ketchum, that's because the person who directed the show is the same one who directed Pokemon. I wonder why this never had a US release, I guess they thought an anime about fishing sounds boring?

I don't watch too much of it in general, but what I like, I do quite a bit (From memory):
-Dragon Ball/DBZ
-One Piece (Probably my most favorite one nowdays)
-Naruto (Mostly for the trainwreck effect nowadays, though)
-Berserk
-Fist of the North Star
-Fullmetal Alchemist
-G Gundam
-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
-Hellsing
I'm probably forgetting some, but that's enough.
