The Police in one of their last concerts was a pretty cool night.

The Stooges in 2007. Iggy Pop is still the man, and I got to see the late Ron Asheton perform as well. I really need to see the current Iggy & The Stooges lineup in concert, they've got James Williamson on guitar and they're playing all the great songs from the Raw Power era. They were supposed to perform at this year's Sonisphere, but couldn't play their set properly due to a thunderstorm hitting the festival area hard right before they went on. This, of course, made me somewhat happy about the fact I couldn't be there... but yeah, I must see them sooner than later. After my own heart. Raw Power remains one of my top 10 favourite albums of all time. 30 Seconds to Mars in Camden in 2006 and in Cardiff at the start of this year stand out for me, as I've been a big fan of theirs since a friend gave me some of the demos prior to the release of their first album, so I felt kinda justified that I'd been a solid fan a full six years before they got huge. Both shows were amazing. On a personal level, theSTART in Bristol in '06, The Gathering in London in 2001, and Julien-K in London this past September were all great experiences for me, given the intimate nature of the shows and the fact that UK shows are very rare things from any of them.

I saw Rod Stewart back in the early 90's. Sold out crowd getting off on each song played. Total energy excitement. Made me think this is what a male superstar of music should be. The way his band performed and looked made you feel they must be the coolest musicians in the world. Sounded just like, or very close to, the original recording in a hockey arena notorious for bad sound (the place was made for hockey, not music), and my personal highlight in the show was when he hoisted this darling 4-year-old girl from the audience and sang perfectly straight to her face "Forever Young". I was way far away in the balconey section and people around were crying. I teared up myself. Rod Stewart after performing for 2 1/2 hours then did 3 lenghty curtain calls and I and the rest of the whole 16,000 in attendance still wanted more. I may not ever see better.

I saw Rush twice during the "Vapor Trails" tour. No opening act, just Rush playing for like three hours with a brief intermission. Amazing.

Either Metallica in 09 supported by Machine Head, or The Black Crusade tour with Shadows Fall, DragonForce, Arch Enemy, Trivium and Machine Head.
Amazingly I'm not even a fan of Machine Head

I saw Rush twice during the "Vapor Trails" tour. No opening act, just Rush playing for like three hours with a brief intermission. Amazing. People who are not musicians have no idea what energy it takes to play for 3 whole hours especially at the speed and technic that Rush does and it doesn't get easier the older you get either. That's just amazing hearing that. Should they come to my town I'll strongly guide myself to buy a ticket.

That's like, almost 30 years of going to concerts and shows and I'm supposed to pick just one?
I don't even know where to start...should I just go with my very first concert, The Jacksons' "Victory" Tour 1984? Duran Duran's "Strange Behaviour" Tour in 1987?
Seeing Marilyn Manson open for Danzig way back when was pretty cool...as was seeing them open for Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie.
Ozzfest '97 was absolutely amazing. Got to meet Fear Factory, Coal Chamber, Drain S.T.H., and some of the guys in Neurosis.
OH!!! How could I forget about Lollapalooza '96?! I got to see The Ramones, The Melvins, Soundgarden, and Screaming Trees.
Soooo many concerts. So many memories.

I've only been to one club show (Bad Religion), but probably Ozzfest 2005. The show that showcased to me how GOOD Iron Maiden actually was. I was a fan, but that performance made me into a lifelong fan.
This answer could change in March when I see Dropkick Murphys in DC.

Most fun I ever had myself at a concert was a Motörhead show in October of 2009...at the front on the rail, headbanging like no tomorrow and singing along to every song...that was just hella fun for me, personally lol....in a close second place would be...Judas Priest, Heaven & Hell, Motörhead, and Testament in one night, August 2008

Surprisingly, it was a Black Metal concert in a very small biker bar/club thing. I usually don't even like Black Metal, but you wanna know why I liked it so much? Because unlike most concerts I went to, it was with my friends (in fact, they invited me... about an hour earlier, when we met by chance in a fast-food restaurant ). The bands were surprisingly good for garage bands (OK, I think one of them was actually pro or at least semi-pro, but most were amateurs), and the atmosphere was great! You know how metal fans are usually depicted as dirty, aggressive, moronic dickheads? It was pretty much the opposite of that. I knew almost nobody there yet everyone was so welcoming and friendly that I immediately felt in my environment. Somebody even picked up my glasses for me when they fell while we were headbanging to death. ;D On top of that, the place looked great and the drinks tasted really good (they have a kickass cocktail of rhum and energy drink, it tastes way better than it sounds). Oh, and I got to see two hot lesbians making out. So on in short, in about one hour, my day went from kinda boring everyday routine to one of the best times of my life. Welcome to the wonderful world of underground metal... From my experience there are more douches at a death metal concert rather than a black metal concert.

In the early 80s I saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers at William Patterson College. The opening band was Johnny Winters. It was one of the first concerts I ever went to and I have never experienced anything so sonically overpowering.
A close second would be seeing KISS at the Staples Center last year. (Three rows from the stage)

Dillinger Escape Plan, 3, and Kairos at a local club. Such an amazing show, featuring 3 bands that don't even really make sense together, but that made it all the more incredible.
Look What I Did at a s****y venue called "The School". Because the School actually was a school. They played in what appeared to be the cafeteria, and pretty much the only people that showed up were me and my best friend. They still played for us, and we hung out with them for about an hour before their set, and a half hour or so after.
And any time I got to see KISS, but this past fall in particular, when I was 8 rows from the stage.
Andrew WK was also a lot of fun. And any time I've seen Every Time I Die.
