Because chatting about pretty women from London (and the occasional bi-sexual time agent and robot dog) is pretty much all I'm up to doing today.
I'll say it right up front; Amy Pond is the hottest companion so far. I don't know how I feel about her as an actual companion yet (I've barely watched the eleventh Doctor's run), but Karen Gillian, you are a goddess.
Otherwise, I really liked Rose, Jack, and even Donna, although I seem to be in the minority there.
Hopefully someone will come along and start talking about the original companions and not think of me as such a "noob."

I loathed Donna, mainly because of the shouty, one-expressioned hack who played her.
I'm all about the K9.

I liked all his companions except for Donna who really annoyed me, largely because of Catherine Tate. And I agree, Amy is definitely the hottest. She's got the world's nicest legs

Back in the mid 80s I went to a Who convention in New Jersey. While waiting to see a showing of Shada (which they had just managed to put into a barely watchable form), I had Lalla Ward sit down next to me and chat for about five minutes. I have absolutely no idea what we said to each other because my brain was screaming "HOLY CRAP!! YOU'RE SITTING NEXT TO ROMANA!! AND TALKING TO HER!! THIS IS SO COOL!!"
She was my favorite of the original assistants. Amy Pond is my favorite of the new assistants.

I think Martha should have lasted more than one series.

Sarah Jane is THE companion.
I think because of how important they made it, Rose climbs higher than her length in the show should warrent.
Amy is hot, hot, hot, but I absolutely hated how she was the total focus of the first series with Matt Smith as the Doctor. I wanted to know more about him and what sort of character he was as the Doctor, I did not want to know about her and her drippy twod of a fiancee.
I never liked Martha because they made her a second rate Rose knock off, and, even though she was shouty and one expressoned, I did actually like Donna because she was a true companion, she wasnt looking to screw him and she gave us her wonderful grandad.

Y'know, I have to imagine if I watched Dr. Who back in the sixties, Zoe Heriot would be doing something to shape my puberty in some fashion.
Or am I the only one that gets a kick out of a "space librarian"?

Does River Song count? She is my favourite character of the whole series (aside from the doctor obviously) Also... Y'know, I have to imagine if I watched Dr. Who back in the sixties, Zoe Heriot would be doing something to shape my puberty in some fashion. Or am I the only one that gets a kick out of a "space librarian"? Is that Zoe Heriot? Because if she is, she looks A LOT like Portia Perez.

My favorite companions -
Susan - the first companion and the Doctors granddaughter. I wish they'd bring her back in some fashion, their are about a zillion potential story opportunities with her. Jamie and Zoe - I don't think there has ever been better chemistry and a greater sense of friendship and family then between Two, Jamie and Zoe. The Brig - because he is the man. Peri - because... well... ah, why bother beating around the bush - she has really nice boobies.

My favourite will always have to be Ace, with Nyssa and Martha as the runners up. Got to love a character who can beat up a Dalek, ward off monsters with her faith in the Doctor, travel through time on a motorbike, potentially become the first human Time Lord, then start a charity back home on Earth. Also, Sophie Aldred is really friendly in real life. Met her when I went to the Longleat conventions as a kid, and my ex-girlfriend also had a chat with her at a recent signing. Got a pic here from when I met her in 1996.

I'm a sucker for the doe-eyes...or maybe they just look like that because it's in black and white.
