Just found out that Major Richard Winters, who was made famous by the Band of Brothers mini series, has passed away.

He died about a week ago apparently at the age of 92. There are still 36 Easy Company veterans alive and they inspired one of the greatest TV shows ever.
A great soldier. RIP.

I really enjoyed Band of Brothers that I had to read for a history class in college.

This bums me out more than it should. Same here. I read the news earlier today, but the last 30 minutes or so, I've been thinking about it pretty much exclusively. I mean, I know that no one lives forever, but 92 or not, it is still sad news.

"I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day when he said, 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said 'No… but I served in a company of heroes.”
