I hope this is acceptable to say despite the politicalness, but whenever people start talking about New World Order theories, I always start talking, deadly serious, about how "it's definitely a real thing" and going into details about their plots and leaders - but I'll be talking about the wrestling stable. I like to see if people will catch on and get the joke. As far as conspiracy theories in general, they can be fun to read about, but it';s kinda upsetting to know that some people actually believe some of this stuff. And yet someone in WCW turned to one to make one of the greatest and popular gimmicks of all time. I have always wondered who came up that concept. Not so much the formation of the group because we know that part, but the creation of the name. Makes you wonder what that particular individual was watching/reading to suggest that in staff meeting. Considering the posts so far, I have to ask if this thread will be used to just ridicule those who have an interest in conspiracy theory. If so, it ceases being a discussion or an honest debate of any sort.

Several years ago I stumbled upon a forum for people who believe that Digimon are real and the government is covering it up. If it's not real how do you explain this? What is Gatomon doing with Tai's goggles? Anyways I've loved stuff like this, especially aliens. I fully believe we are not alone in the universe. Any links or stories about lesser known creatures (not Loch Ness, Bigfoot, etc.)? I'd love to read 'em.

I believe in alien life, not sure about life under the Mars surface or our own oceans but it IS interesting that story of a hollow Mars moon with a weird orbit to boot. I think it is Mars's moon Phobos.

For me, here are the ones I buy into:
- Aliens in Roswell. I'm less convinced they were here influencing human culture because, if so, they've been missing for a LONG time. That said, yes, I do believe an alien craft crashed in the New Mexico desert and the US government is covering it up. Also am inclined to believe not just that there was a crash, but there may have been a survivor.
- Plots to kill JFK, MLK and RFK. This is very near and dear to my heart as I am firmly convinced in a plot by higher ups in the US government to kill JFK because he was dangerous to the industrial military complex. MLK needed to be disposed of partially for his stance of non-violence in civil rights, but more because he too dared to stand up to the war in Vietnam. Finally, RFK as well because of the potential threats to the same. Could the Mafia and others have been involved? Sure, but it had to be plotted and executed by people who knew exactly how to cover it up and keep people silent and all make it look good. That's CIA and government run ops, people.
- Cover ups in 9/11. No, I do NOT believe WTC 1 and 2 were intentionally destroyed, but I do think that WTC 7 was intentionally imploded and UAL 93 was actually shot down by our own planes. I certainly believe that people inside the government knew this attack was coming and were willing to make sacrificed to enter a war with Iraq. Means to an end, ya see.
Those are the big ones, at least the ones that seem most plausible to me.

I used to really love paranormal and conspiracy stuff back in middle school. Conspiracies are real things but not on the grand scale and long lasting like some people claim. There's one quote that put it best by saying "You can hardly get three people to agree on the same thing, so it's very unlikely a group of evil men are secretly controlling the world without anybody noticing."

Watergate? You are using Watergate to prove large scale political conspiracies exist. Really, a group of the president's sort of friends get caught investigating err, something, and the attempts to prevent the investigation of the crime from reaching the president, and that vindicates political gnosticism? Watergate was nothing, in the grand scheme of things.
I usually reject outright mega-conspiracies, largely because I am aware of the history of such fire in the minds of men. If you look up accustations against the Jews, or Witchcraft craze, it's pretty much the same as it is today. Now, paranormal activity, that's fun.
Care should be taken, extraterrestial life is a mathmatical probability, the question is, are ETs the overlords of the UFOs is the actual question. Both are very different.

I love the odd conspiracy theories like claimed sightings of living Dinosaurs in the depths of Africa. I would LOVE for that one to be true.
Anyway I believe in Aliens. With how many stars there are visible with just the naked eye odds are there are going to be planets out there which support life. Seems kinda impossible that out of every planet out there Earth is the only one which supports any life forms.

I was totally into Alex Jones' conspiracy theory work, but I've lost interest in it because he obviously has a personal agenda and is very biased. Plus his views went from believable to unbelievable in a matter of months - when Obama got elected.
Many conspiracies I view as "well, what if they're true? Who is to say they're absolutely untrue?" My History teacher thinks Paul McCartney actually died and was replaced around 1967. I mean, Pauls bass playing got a lot better from Sgt Peppers onwards, around the time the supposed accident happened. I don't think it's true though.
I still believe that Lennons murder was planned by the US government, who brainwashed Chapman to kill him. My dad thinks Yoko actually arranged the assassination for his money. And I also believe Cobain was murdered by someone, possibly a hired gun of Loves, who perhaps gave the guy sex in return for killing him.
Regarding 9/11, I think that many questions are still unanswered. Regardless of your take on it; Bush abused that attack and the nations sympathy in order to declare war on Iraq, by misinforming the public also about fake WMD's.
Aliens, well, there must be other life forms in this universe. It'd be insane if Earth was the only place.

From what I read, the FBI was watching Lennon alot, and that makes me believe that after the "bed-in" or whatever thing he did for anti-war, made the government decide that Lennon was to be taken care of. The description of the guy that killed him is kind of weak, here is what it said, "He was unstable, voices told him to hurt Lennon." Voices as in the government maybe?

Conspiracy theories are a funny thing. Depending on how deep you dig.
I certainly don't believe Oswald acted alone. When you get deep in on that, you find things like the driver shot JFK over his shoulder, the entire Zapruder film is a hoax, Kennedy was shot from the sewer, not the Grassy Knoll.
On the surface, things don't add up. Why did 52 separate people chase after a gunman on the Grassy Knoll because they said he had a gun?
As for 9/11, I can't say what I believe about it anymore, as I read and read into that and wound up with lizard people controlling the world and so and so was a shape-shifting alien.
However, I certainly don't believe everything is as cut and dried as they have you believe. PM did an article about how all the theories on the demolition were nuts. Some other actual expert refuted it. I don't know shit about demolitions. You have to choose who you believe.
There's huge questions surrounding all the conspiracy theories that have never been answered and they are basic questions to ask.
Like how come so many of the 9/11 hijackers turned up alive?
At the end of the day, I go with two things 1. I don't automatically believe everything I am told and 2. I don't know.
That's the big one, I just don't know.

JFK wasn't killed, because he was a hologram the whole time! Oswald's death was covered up and he entered a witness protection program so he could join his accomplice Drew Carey(The man behind the hedge) on the show.

The 80's sitcom "Mama's Family" has way too many references to the occult and serial killers/assassins for it to be a coincidence.
Here's a few:
Thelma's maiden surname is Crowley. Aleister Crowley was an occultist from the early 20th century who started the religion "Thelema", and was denounced in the popular press of the day as "the wickedest man in the world.
The show is based in Raytown which could be taken to be named after James Earl Ray, the man who killed Martin Luther King.
Nearby towns mentioned are Bundy (as in serial killer Ted Bundy) and Hinkley (after John Hinkley, the would-be assassin of Ronald Reagan).
And there's one episode where Bubba wants $200 for a trip to Oswald Caverns (as in Lee Harvey Oswald, JFK's assassin).
In the season six episode "Blast From The Past", Thelma goes to her junior high school reunion, at "Gilmore Junior High". Gary Gilmore was a killer from Utah, famous for requesting the firing squad to carry out his death penalty conviction in 1977.
There's also a possible reference to Lizzy Borden in the episode "Bubba's Double Date", when Bubba needs a date to the prom, Mama tells him he should call that "Borden girl down the street".

That said, yes, I do believe an alien craft crashed in the New Mexico desert and the US government is covering it up. Also am inclined to believe not just that there was a crash, but there may have been a survivor. I believe in extraterrestrial life and the Men in Black, but I don't think Roswell was an alien crash landing. I think it was an experimental craft built with extraterrestrial technology. And what crashed in Kecksburg was a Soviet space craft, and we covered it up. I don't think JFK was killed by Oswald, or that Martin Luther King was killed by James Earl Ray. Bobby Kennedy is still a question though, I think Sirhan was involved, but don't think he fired the fatal shots. I don't know if Bobby was killed accidentally or if Sirhan was used as a Manchurian Candidate so somebody else could kill Bobby in the confusion. I believe in ghosts, Bigfoot and Mothman, but those aren't really conspiracies. Well, Mothman did have sightings of the Men in Black. I also believe in Atlantis. And if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say.

Hold on, why would the government just destroy WTC Tower 7? Insurance money? And then why wait two years to go into Iraq?
And I saw a youtube video of one conspiracy in which Michael Jackson's "Beat It" song and video are analyzed and then said to be about a giant homosexual cult who go to a warehouse and play a game in which they all masturbate, and whoever finishes last is the winner. It was genuinely one of the best conspiracies I have ever heard of.

One conspiracy theory that is possibly true is that Michael Jordan's first retirement from basketball was in fact a clever way to suspend him for gambling and make the NBA tons of money when he returned. Supposedly, Stern suspended him for gambling, and at the time the Bulls owner Reinsdorf also owned the White Sox so they let him play in their system for publicity purposes until his suspension was complete. It doesn't help that during the time of his retirement Jordan was asked about possibly returning to the NBA one day and he said something like: "If David Stern would let me."
I haven't read up on it in a while, I think Cracked had it in an article about Sports conspiracy theories a while back. Who knows if it's true but it is interesting, mainly because I believe Stern to be some sort of evil puppet master. That dude is shady at best.

I'm a firm believer in Bigfoot, Aliens, Ghosts, and hold a strong belief in anything that involves corruption or secrecy within the US government.
As much as people may disagree with me on this, however, this has to be said. Ghosts has always been a belief for me even as a child because spirits, in my opinion, do linger after passing on and sometimes those same spirits cannot rest. Ghost Hunters is a great show that looks to debunk rather than prove paranormal activity.
Only problem I have with the show is that it revolves around drama between team members and less analysis of the activity.
That said I believe the most convincing investigation they did was when they looked into the Manson Murders.

Do you believe it's possible that Tim Donaghy was telling the truth about league officials fixing games?

Read something on Cracked today that mentioned self repairing paint. I thought that large paint companies like Dulux will never allow them to put on the market. Because who is going to buy paint in the future if the paint fixes itself. Anyway got me think of conspiracies of great inventions that have been made. But they won't be put on the market because large companies are afraid if the invention catches on, it will hurt their business in the long rune. Like: - The light bulb with the life span of half a century. - Batteries that last for decades. - Gum or Mouthwash that does a better job of cleaning your teeth then toothbrushes and toothpaste. - The electric car - the car that gets incredibly great gas mileage. - A formula that converts water into gasoline. Also there is the computer company stuff. One of my crazy friends say that Apple have an iPhone that can hold more then a 100gb of data. But they don't plan to release for another 5 years. Microsoft releasing bug infested programs so they can sell the fixes further down the line. I often hear that Vista was supposed to be shitty, or that it was supposed to be like WIN7 but the developers ran out of time so they released Vista unfinished. And 7 is the finished product. See sometimes corporate conspiracies can be as interesting as government cover ups and state funded assassinations.

Speaking of the Jordan conspiracy theory, how about the one that the NBA rigged its games around the time of the early 90s boom era so that teams in bigger markets like chicago would be on top while lesser market teams like say cleveland would be on the botton?
