Ahh, the England bowling attack <3 It's the best part about our team.
C'mon guys, let's go for the win!
*hopes she hasn't tempted fate for a batting collapse*

England currently 551-4 on day 3. I'm guessing England will declare early tomorrow and focus on getting the Australians out as quickly as possible.
England need to win this test. If not it could be a huge psychological blow to our chances.

If not it could be a huge psychological blow to our chances. It depends. If we don't win the test because the Aussies bat really well like we did in Brisbane then yes we might be a bit down. But if the Aussies escape because of the rain it won't make much difference. The momentum will still be with us and it'll be another test match down and one closer step to us retaining. Everyone knows they have huge bowling problems but their fielding in both matches has been rotten and to only get 245 on a pitch as flat as Adelaide suggests they have some pretty big problems with the bat too. Add another 50-100 runs as quick as possible this morning, declare and then have a real go.

You can never write the Aussie's off but you must think we would be able to bowl them out by close of day 4 possibly if we get lucky. Also I keep forgetting we actually don't need to win this Ashes series we just need to draw it. But screw that!

6 wickets to get on the final day.
Very very weird to see Australia praying for rain to escape a thrashing from England. Very ironic. KP the all rounder eh?

England win the Second Test with an innings victory, and we lead 1-0 in the series. Australia now have to win two of the remaining three tests to win back the Ashes. Can't see them doing it.

Mickie James tempting... ....besides, gotta agree with you. Aussies bowling is awful and no offense to the batter that is Ponting, but he is not a great leader to make a come back. England at least draws, the little cup comes home.

England lose Broad for the rest of the series but Australia lose Katich which imo is a far greater loss. England can easily replace Broad but Australia will struggle without the Watson/Katich opening partnership, which has been one of their few bright points.

England can easily replace Broad but Australia will struggle without the Watson/Katich opening partnership, which has been one of their few bright points. I agree Katich is the bigger loss, but I don't think England will easily replace Broad either. He's a very good bowler, great on his day, with a lot of experience for a young player AND the added bonus of contributing with the bat. Shazad, Tremlett and Bresnan are all relatively untried in tests and none of them offer the same wicket taking edge that makes Broad so dangerous yet, or the same quality with the bat. Safe option is Bresnan who is the best batsman of the 3 and solid and consistent with the ball. He won't do anything spectacular, but he won't be embarrased either and will be a workhorse for the team. Gutsy option is Tremlett or Shazad. Tremlett offers the same height as Broad so he'd keep the same dynamic, has had a good season and probably does have the ability to step up, but it would be a brave call to make him your second strike bowler in the third Ashes test. Shazad reminds me of a young Harmison in that he has the raw pace but it still needs to be channelled and harnessed. He's the most dangerous of the 3 for my money and if England are feeling confident should be the man they go with. Finn and Shazad are both rapid and having two unknown, largely unscouted quicks could really put the cat among the pigeons for a disrupted Aussie team. There is the risk though that if Ponting or Hussey got after Shazad and Finn though that you've got two young guys being flayed without the experience to pull them through. The match against Victoria will be interesting to see which of the 3 steps up. If I were one of the Victoria batsmen I would NOT be looking forward to a match where the 3 quicks are going to be bowling hell for leather for a test place!

And we're back, with the third test is Perth having just started.
Collingwood has just taken an absolute beauty of a catch to get Ponting out.

The Australian Selectors need to be fired already. They have absolutely no idea what to do now that the old boys have dropped off. They pretty much refuse to play anyone that isn't from New South Wales with Siddle actually being the only Victorian playing this series.

Australia were all out for 309 at the end of their innings with Hussey getting yet another century.
In reply, England are 5/81 at stumps, needing 391 to win the match and retain The Ashes.
