Spurs NEED the win over Boston tonight. Its the real test of just how good we really are and to me could solidify the season and our spot at the top. Hopefully the defense is there tonight and people aren't so sloppy making shots. They'll lose tonight as well ;D The match will come down to who wants to see Matlock more. The team that does loses.

The only reason they're playing like that is because they don't care right now. Which is weird because it's pretty much half-way through the season now. They should be making their push.

Also a live report from the Celtics/Spurs game I just got back from:
A kid totally cheated in the tricycle race when a Celtics dancer helped keep on the oversized shorts they had to put on while racing to the tricycle.

The fact that the Spurs lost two games in a row is not good.
The fact that its the first time all season they've had consecutive losses is kind of cool though. Are they the only team that can say that?

ah, then no, they're the only team I think. Well, thats something I guess. We have the Pacers next and the Timberwolves after that....hopefully those are easier.

Pau Gasol, Channing Frye, and Derek Fisher all have technicals in this game.
What, no adorable puppies to T up? Was the Pope not available?

Tonight was Clash of the Champions II. Here are the results.
In the opener, Jerry Flynn defeated Bret Hart. Hart was accompanied by his new announcer Michael Buffer (Ted Williams). This was a tale of two halves of the match. Early on, it looked like Bret would cruise in this fast-paced match. But Flynn caught fire and took over, knocking Hart senseless, especially after his Savate Kick, which kept Bret down for the three count (Toronto over Cleveland 120-105).
Glacier went over Eddie Guerrero. For a while, this was a tightly contested match. But midway through, Glacier appeared to have the upper hand. Late in the contest however, Guerrero showed his warrior-like spirit, making a great comeback. Unfortunately for Eddie, when he was going to set up the Frog Splash, he was hit with the Cryonic Kick, allowing Glacier to get the win (New Jersey over Chicago 96-94).
The Giant literally squashed David Arquette. The Giant had control from the get go, and never relinquished his advantage. Arquette appears to be a bit of a disappointment, since he finished off last season red-hot before suffering a nasty elbow injury that hampered his chances of winning the championship. The Giant finished off Arquette with the Choke Slam (Orlando over Milwaukee 97-87).
Bobby Eaton beat Juventud Guerrera. Juventud is abysmal on the road, and this match continues to prove that opinion right (Washington 0-17 on the road). It was a close match for a while, but Eaton's veteran instincts kicked in late, allowing him to take advantage, hitting the Alabama Jam for the win (Philadelphia over Washington 109-97).
Sting defeated Randy Savage. This match lived up to the hype, even though it was placed in the middle of the show. Sting is still battling a calf injury suffered against The Nasty Boys (no Garnett). But he still had a slight advantage throughout. Even when Savage would fight back, Sting quickly regained control. But Savage made it close near the end, until Sting hit the Stinger Splash, setting up the Scorpion Death Drop to pin Savage (Boston over San Antonio 105-103).
High Voltage went over Ric Flair. Flair had control throughout the match, as it seemed easily destined for a victory. But unlike their previous matches, High Voltage kept their energy for late in the match, making a ferocious comeback, and using their two-on-one advantage to their, well, advantage. They took control and hit the Circuit Breaker to defeat Flair (Golden State over New Orleans 110-103).
Alex Wright beat Silver King in sudden-death overtime. Wright had control early on, but then suddenly couldn't get any offense in halfway through the match. The time limit expired before either man could get the win, so per WCBA rules, it went to a five minute sudden-death period. It was there where Wright re-took control, and hit a bridging german suplex to pin Silver King (Charlotte over Minnesota 108-105 in OT).
Ultimo Dragon defeated La Parka. Both cruiserweights had the upper hand at one point in the match, but neither could successfully pull away from the other. When it appeared La Parka would win, Dragon came back, and was able to lock in the Dragon Sleeper to make La Parka tap out (Portland over Houston 103-100).
Booker T squashed Raven's Flock. Booker had control throughout the entire match, never letting any Flock member get in his way. No member of the Flock looked like a challenge for Booker, and he was able to pin Kanyon with the Scissor Kick to secure the victory (Atlanta over Utah 110-87).
Disco Inferno went over The Steiner Bros. Scott (Carmelo) had a good performance, but that didn't stop Disco. Inferno had control early, and managed to hold off a comeback from the brothers, and pull away late, hitting Rick with the Chart Buster.
Goldberg beat Rey Mysterio. The other highly promoted match on the card, this match closed out the show. There appeared to be some bad blood here, as they were both getting into each others' faces. Goldberg started out hot, but Mysterio match a match out of it, keeping it close throughout. But Goldberg's power was too much, hitting Mysterio with the Jackhammer to defeat Mysterio (LA Lakers over Phoenix 99-95).

Blake Griffin will be in the Dunk Contest, he extended his double double streak to 22 games and the Clippers won, it was a good day.

hey, Carlos Boozer,
you also have to play defense. It is half of the game of basketball. Please stop playing terrible, terrible defense.
Thanks!

I'm currently watching highlights from last night's Spurs vs. Celtics game on SportsCenter, and they are airing the highlights courtesy of Fox Sports Southwest. I don't know who the broadcasting team is for Spurs games, but WOW are they homers. I thought Tommy Heinsohn was an over-the-top towel-waving fan, but those Spurs broadcasters take it to another level.
They were practically standing up and cheering when Ray Allen missed consecutive free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining, and their despondence after Paul Pierce blocked Manu Ginobili's last shot was equivalent to Herbert Morrison describing the final flight of the Hindenburg.

Bill Land (who?) and Sean Elliott. And yes, I HATED having to listen to them call a Mavs/Spurs game earlier this season. It got to the point where I was saying rude things about Elliott (the kind of things Kenyon Martin would have approved of) out of frustration for how homerific they sounded.
