Good times in San Antonio! Don't you worry Randy Savage. Goldberg's waiting for you. He has to take care of the nWo first.

It honestly should be. Yao played FIVE games this year and was hurt again. At this point, he's more of a detriment to Houston (cap wise, anyway) than an asset, and we can see how brittle he is. I like Yao, I like the way he plays when healthy, and I like the way the NBA has promoted themselves in association with him. But if he can't stay on the court it's time to cut losses.

Its really sad. Yao never had the chance to string a few good years together and see if he could become an all time great. He was never going to be a monster but had such a unique skill set for his size. If he and T-Mac could have finished off the Mavs in 2005 they might have taken out the Spurs or if Yao didnt get hurt in the playoffs...... but yeah this is the end.

I think we might need a new WCBA for the Knicks, since they aren't really a Mongo anymore (out of the WCW Horsemen I'd go with you-know-who, but... yeah).
My suggestions would be Jeff Jarrett or Dean Malenko.

Grew up in the biz (NYC has a big basketball playing base), had long times of alright success, never great save a few times, can suck for a long time.

I'm sad about Yao. Not only was he unique (how many teams choose their center to shoot technical free throws?) and fun to watch, but he's a funny and engaging guy. What a bummer.

Tonight's results from the WCBA (World Championship Basketball Association):
Glacier defeated Juventud Guerrera (New Jersey over Washington 97-89) Sting went over Booker T (Boston over Atlanta 102-90) Randy Savage beat The Steiner Bros. in a high-octane battle that went down to the wire (San Antonio over Denver 113-112)

What a win for the Spurs. Hell of a game. Oh yea. Credit to the refs to make a ballsy, but right call at the end of the game. A charge is a charge whether it happens 12 seconds into a game or at the end of the 4th quarter.

If this is the end for Yao, then I can see Houston trying everything to keep him on as a coach or something. He's only played 5 games but the guy is still the leading vote getter for West Centers in the All Star Game. The guy is still massively popular. Man, the power of centers has dropped. You've got Dwight Howard, but really no young star centers in the league. I remember when the NBA was dominated by Shaq, David Robinson, Hakeem, Ewing, Zo, and Mutombo. It's becoming the point guards league now. You've got Westbrook, CP3, Rose, Deron Williams, John Wall, Rondo, Devin Harris, Stephen Curry and Eric Bledsoe. That's a good crop of young point guards. As far as point guards go, the NBA is in good hands.

Also so much fun to play as in NBA 2k games I created a game within NBA Street (Volume 2, I think) where you would have both players playing as Houston. You got 2 points for a dunk, 1 point for a regulation 2 point shot, and 4 points for threes. Because Yao was so damn tall and could block everything, it made shooting 3's that much more impressive. Fun times. Oh, yeah, Go Mavs and stuff Sorry for the nostalgia trip.

Really looking foward to tonight's Knicks game against Miami, should be hell of a fun game to watch. I loved their rivalry in the 90s.
BEAT THE HEAT!

Let's not forget, it is thanks to Yao that the NBA even HAS a presence in China. Without Yao, China wouldn't give two shits about the NBA. Now we got a few more Chinese players in the league thanks to him.

I love how the article makes the assumption James "couldn't handle New York" even though he'd been carrying a franchise since he was 18. Revisionist history is fun.

The Magic would be making a big mistake if this trade happens.
