I wouldn't say saw 3d is the weakest in the franchise that belongs to the gawd awful 5 followed closely by 4. What 3D's main problem atleast to me is that it is billed the finale...THAT IS NOT A GAWD DAMN FINALE!!!...and i will leave it at that without spoiling anything lol. that's the least of the issues I had with it {Spoiler}during the opening credits we see Dr. Gordon from the original Saw film after he sawed off his foot, which immediately gave away the so-called big swerve at the end
granted, I figured out that eventually he would be a Saw follower for lack of a better word, but to give it away literally seconds into the film is bulls*** and angered me immensely
the lack of Jigsaw perplexed me given how prominent he was in the other films, especially after he died in 3
unless I'm mistaken Jigsaw was in the film for only 3 scenes for a total of 3 minutes at the most
most of the film was "cat and mouse" between Hoffman and Jill, now granted I thought it was a pretty cool swerve that Hoffman ended up being in the corinors (sp?) bag to sneak into the police headquarters undetected
aside from that the film was predictable
there were no smooth tranisitons from scences from one thing to what is more like "oh look someone is about to die" in the "games" before the main one following the fake survivor
and even then the final "test" was predictable
honestly this movie was a massive gorefest with none of the philosophy that was in previous Saw films

Well to be fair {Spoiler}Tobin Bell, the writers, and the directors stated during pre-production and filming the movie that Jigsaw's screentime would be limited.
The whole film should've revolved around Hoffman/Jill, also they should've made mention of Strahm no longer being a suspect, Hoffman burning the FBI lab thus killing Erickson, Perez, and the voice analyst, and the self-help group should've focused more on people who survived traps as well.
What about the man that was in the chair with the two drills? Daniel Matthews? Fisk? Granted it's not much you can do with those characters now. But I think it would've been nice if they focused on the story rather than the abusing the 3D.

I like to get drunk and watch them all in a row when the new one comes out on video. It's like the highlight of January. 4 is probably my favorite, because I really like how the narrative flows. 1 has too many stalls, 2 is too much of a Cube ripoff, 3 is ok, 4 is fun, 5 is dreadful, 6 is pretty good (though I only saw it once).

As soon as they announced that they were rushing Saw 2 out into theaters a year after the first one became a hit, I knew this series was going to be a mess. Call me a cynic, but I like to think I was right.

the first one is the best one. IMHO, the first one is the only good one. I haven't seen the later ones I admit, but the ones I have seen are cinema trash to me.

I completely gave up on the series after Saw III. Haven't seen any others and I'm in no rush to see any others.

I actually really enjoyed the 6th one. In fact, I would put it right behind the first, in terms of quality. I HATED 4 and 5.

3D was ok with me, {Spoiler}I think it just agititates all of the naysayers who swore up and down that gorden was dead, I mean hoffman Is never ever tested, and no I don't count the lazily attached beartrap either, I'm talking about a legit test. Anyway as far as the directors and the main actors are concerned saw 3D is the last saw film. I'm fine with it all the loose ends where tied up and for once I left the theater not confused or pissed off. The worst by far is 3+4

Saw all 7 in the cinema and haven't broughht any on DVD since 3...which should tell you something. At least 6 and 7 were an improvement on 4 which was too confusing and 5 which was just flat out boring.

3D has sentimental value to me. Because the three way trap I could picture with myself.

All of them are very special to me and I've been with them through the beginning. My biggest regret is not seeing the first Saw in the theatre just for the reactions of the ending alone.
I have all of them on DVD and even after the first one I made it a goal to see every single one on opening night. It's a great horror franchise, audience participation is always nice when Saw films are released, and the twists(with the exception of the 7th) has been very exciting.
Last I heard Betsy Russell and Costas Mandylor are campaigning for an 8th Saw to be made.

Admitingly im a later comer to the Saw series, originally the idea of watching people get brutaly torchered just didnt appeal to me. I blame the Saw ride in Thorpe Park for me taking an interest to the series.. To me the Saw series is a guilty pleasure, I agree the earlier ones were the best, Somewhat dragging it out now.. If they were to make more Saw movies i'll just keep watching them

Only really enjoyed the first one. It's even more enjoyable if you just picture it as a sadistic version of The Crystal Maze.

The Saw franchise really kinda reminds me of the "classic" slasher franchises that I liked when I was younger. Look at Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street with both franchises they started out good and after the second (Halloween) or third (NoES) movie they went downhill in quality. I am a fan on the series and not just for the games but also because I like to see how they manage to fit things into the story's timeline.

The First is the only one that I would truly recommend seeing. two was solid but it went downhill from there.

My main beefs with 4 and 5 is them killing off {Spoiler}Eric Matthews and Strahm. If I were writing those sequels they would've survived and possibly teamed up to stop Jigsaw.

IMO, after 3 it all goes downhill. I've said it before and I'll say it again...had they stopped at 3 they would have had one of the BEST horror trilogies in recent memory. They told their story and that was that. But never let THAT stand in the way of making money, eh Hollywood?

the first one is the best one. It's the only one I've watched all the way through without being bored.
