Why are they having this match next week on Raw? I feel like stretching this feud until the Royal Rumble would truly help Morrison elevate towards the main event, or at least much higher on the card than he is now.
Maybe there will be a non-decisive finish to the match, but that seems doubtful since it's a Falls Count Anywhere match. I guess we'll just have Miz/Orton again even though we have just seen that match as recently as last week on SmackDown.

WWE doesn't seem to have much faith in JoMo as a main eventer....

Next week is not gonna be the end of this fued, they still have to finish Orton's role in the main event before going forward with a miz/morrison event.

If the WWE doesn't have faith in Morrison to have a WWE Championship match at the Rumble, I doubt they'll allow him to main event WrestleMania. And he shouldn't, at least not yet.

I've said since the day he won that #1 contender slot that Morrison is nothing more than a speed bump for the Miz. We have no reason to believe that this is or ever was intended as a way to get Morrison into the main event.
Morrison to Miz is roughly what Hardcore Holly was to Brock Lesnar.

I fully expect to hear
"And I quote. . . . it will be Randy Orton vs The Miz vs John Morrison at the Royal Rumble!"
WWE thinks that Miz vs Morrison isn't enough to sell a card like that. They'll do a triple threat and with Randy to sell the card and Morrison to keep him in the main event scene.
And if they do that - it will be the most random triple threat match I've seen in a while.

i'm thinking they will find a way to insert Orton into this and make it a triple threat to cover their bases. Maybe Orton costs Morrison the match - based on Orton's "don't ever trust me" comment last week- because he wants to be the one to beat the Miz not Morrison.
Then the lights go on and off and Michael Cole quotes "There will be a triple threat match for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble where the Miz will defend the title against John Morrison, AND Randy Orton." <pause> "What? that's not fair to the Miz! How could the GM make a match like that where the Miz doesn't even have to get pinned to lose his title!!!!"

I'd actually like to see that Triple Threat too. Its just random enough to be interesting with enough factors to really move as a match. Orton: His methodical styel RKO at any time. Miz: Champ worried about losing his title and a smash mouth style. JoMo: Flip flying all over the place.

I see no way in hell that next week winds up with a clean finish. There's just too much going on with Miz's storyline between Lawler and A-Ri for it end, as posters above me have said, without shenanigans.
If next week is a clean finish in either direction, I'll eat my cat.

It's probably to test out their chemistry in the main event in a less pressured environment, so they can decide whether to keep Morrison in this story or not. I think there's a lot of good potential for Miz and Morrison to keep having interactions throughout the years, much like some other former tag partners have, so I don't think Morrison's just gonna be fed to Miz and fade away, but I think they're not quite sure if he's ready yet.

or wishful thinking, they want to put Jomo in the rumble match itself. So he can win it, and move to smackdown and face Edge at mania. Sigh, I'll wake up now

My guess is Orton wins it back and faces CM Punk at Mania ?

If they pull the trigger on a Morrison match at Royal Rumble, they immediately blow his shot to have a big match with Miz for the title, otherwise he'd defeat Miz who would have a two-month reign of little relevance. I think they wanted to see if Morrison was worthy as a main eventer, and he proved it. If he wins the Rumble, he gets a much better chance for the belt rather than a random throwaway Rumble match. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But the chances aren't exactly zero.

The Royal Rumble has recently been used for a lackluster title match, since the actual Rumble itself sells the show. Hardcore Holly as a world title contender, anyone? I'd rather not see Morrison get his title shot at that PPV...

Becuase, Morrison is not there yet and I'm pretty sure something will happen next week that'll add to the WWE Title match. Like someone said earlier, maybe special guest referee or something.
Maybe Lawler will get involved, Cole will get involved, Riley will get involved, to the point where the GM chimes in and announces a triple threat match with special guest referee Jerry Lawler.

Morrison isn't over enough to get a main event push I don't think. Working with the Miz, who has a lot of heat will help but the crowd just doesn't seem to care that much.
