Why do some people seem to have hated Paris Hilton? I don't pay THAT much attention to celebrity gossip, but when I turn on the tv she was once everywhere. Why was she so hated and how did the gossip with her supposed promiscuity begin?
Also, why do some people not like the Jersey Shore group? Do they think the group is annoying or just a bunch of posers? I never watched a full episode as I cannot get into it.

I dunno. I just waited on the next time Paris Hilton got naked.
As for Jersey Shore, I am able to completely ignore it, besides knowing a name or two.

The backlash against Paris Hilton, and The Kardashians, Jersey Shore crew etc, is that they're essentially famous for being famous. None of them have ever really done anything, yet achieved massive amounts of fame. That's where I see the backlash coming from

A big factor is that they generally appear to be utterly vaccuous and lacking any intellectual curiosity or depth, and present being that way as being 'cool', influence a lot of people to mimic them.
Even if they are in fact intelligent people with hidden depths, whereas I don't actively dislike them, I find it very hard to show any interest or admiration for people who appear that clueless and shallow. I imagine a lot of people feel an active dislike/hatred for them for that same reason.

Jersey Shore kids just annoy me with their voice that is all. And the fact that they are posers and what not.
As for Paris Hilton I really don't know I never really hated her per say but I couldn't stand the sight of her when she was everywhere.

Aside from the fact of "we got famous for no other reason than someone decided we should be," there's also the exposure factor. Paris Hilton was all over pop-culture for a few years, releasing bad music, being in bad movies, and having her face plastered all over. The Jersey Shore guys have started to get that way, although it's still possible to ignore them.

I used to hate Kim Kardashian for being famous for doing nothing, but when I realized how smoking hot she was, I didn't really care anymore. As for Paris, let me say I've never been so unaroused watching someone's sex tape. But at least she's not as famous as she once was. She's still around but she's much more easy to ignore now than when she was plastered everywhere in the media. |

Paris Hilton was basically the media's favorite from I think 2003-2008 or 2009 I believe. Now it's the Kardashians. Like someone else mentioned, I even get annoyed by the Kardashians, but at the same time, the difference between Kim and Paris is that Kim Kardashian is quite the looker compared to Paris. Paris I thought was hot when she first came on, but I still think Nicky is hotter.
As for Jersey Shore, believe me, that is just MTV's top show like how The Hills and Laguna Beach were. When you talk about the latter, that's basically where Kristin Cavallari got famous from, same with The Hills and Audrina Patridge, Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, and Heidi Montag. All of whom are just famous for that show and being smoking hot. However, Jersey Shore annoys me. I even get annoyed by The Situation.

The only one I dislike is Paris, shes a mediocre looking dumb spoiled brat for real that played in reality shows and interviews an even dumber and bigger spoiled brat except they pretended she was super hot, apparently there was a huge audience for that kind of characters. The knowledge of her promiscuity was propagated by her, the sex tape was clearly released by her just before her first show was about to appear on tv... I could go on but frankly im getting bored.
Kim Kardashian followed the same method of self promoting Paris did, release a sex tape just before your reality show is about to start, act all mortified wile giving tons of interviews, give the thing and yourself a lot of promotion, the differences are Kim is really really hot hence shes a good model and spokesperson, shes dumb but doesnt exaggerate it for tv like Paris and she has shown a great work ethic, wile Paris was a lazy(not just on her lazy eye) bitch that stood up tons of people that hired her to make appearances and such.

Whatever is famous is always hated by some people, I don't know why but that's how it is. Paris Hilton is seemingly famous for being famous, but that's just how it is. Honestly I'm not a fan of hers, but some are and that's cool. Jersey Shore is a popular show, and to some popular=it must suck. The Jersey Shore gang are reality TV stars, not the first of their kind and not the last. But some people hate because it is well liked, same thing you see with Twilight and Justin Bieber. It doesn't matter if they have a reason or not, some will just hate. |

I've gotta admit, I get annoyed when I open the pages of a newspaper, check a magazine or turn on the tv and see it covered with Z-List celebrities who have done absolutely nothing of note to get where they are and get the fame and yet people obsess over them and every aspect of their daily lives.
It's even worse when they're actually considered to be role models. Especially when there's folks like police officers, firemen, coastguards etc who have respectable jobs, risk their lives, do good work and stuff but earn a fraction of what Z-List celebrities who are famous for been famous do and in many cases, get very little respect for their job.
Also, then you get people like Jedward over here in Britain who are famous for been terrible singers with crap hair whereas some guys work their arses off, actually have talent but can barely scrape a living singing in dingy, crappy clubs and never get a break.
Doesn't really seem fair to me.

I'm not very fond of Paris Hilton. The only really good thing she's done was Repo! Repo was terrible, but her performance in that movie was one of it's few shining moments. Of course, she was practically playing herself. |

The most annoying thing about all the Paris Hilton stuff is that the media acted like she was the hottest woman in the history of history when shes average looking at her absolute best. 95% of the time shes really, really ugly...

The thing I hate about people like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian is that they are celebrities solely because of their lousy porn tapes. That's it. If not for those tapes, those idiots wouldn't even be on anyone's radar.
I could go on and on and rant about this but think about this: it used to be a porn tape would kill a career. Now it creates them or revitalizes them. Also look at the message it's sending out. Make a porn tape and YOU may become a star!
The problem with Jersey Shore and shows like it is that we are celebrating stupidity. Smart is out, stupid is in. Stupid is cute and funny and likeable. Reality TV on the whole is terrible. It celebrates greed, stupidity, petty behavior, selfishness and generally rotten behavior.
Many people here (myself included) have bitched about dumb people or rude people and we wonder why. It's people like this and shows like this that are making our world (at least North America) the way it is.
Edit: Think about how this effects kids as well. I remember when I was a kid I never EVER saw any girl dressed like a little Brittney Spears. Now it seems to be fairly common.
