Sadly, it's the closest he'll ever get.
EY to me is a sentimental favourite for winning the title now. I hope he stays babyface, gets a bit more serious, and maybe gets a legit shot. But, in order for that to happen, they'll probably have to get rid of the new regime.

Even sadder, although good in its own way, is the fact that EY will more than likely be able to make this work. He's gotten flimsier, more stupid angles over before today.

EY is truly amazing. He's done everything from being scared of his own pyro, to beating James Storm to win the Drinking Championship, to getting SRS and leading World Elite, to being a fantastic part of Team Canada, to... this. And he's been consistently entertaining and awesome in every one of these roles, no matter how silly the transition may have been.
I dare say, EY is just as much the "face of TNA" as AJ is.

If the WWE were smart, they'd hire Eric Young and push him to the moon as a 'screw you' to TNA.
The guy is a damn good worker considering the rubbish he gets over. And during his British Invasion stint, he was actually a damn good and effective serious-heel.

Wow, that actually sounds interesting. God bless EY, he's a trooper and a real company man.

I miss World Elite EY. It was the closest thing to being a legit contender he ever had.
That's including the terrible run with the Band.

Do we need a reminder of how stupid the new belt looks? It would be like Santino running around with the Eagle belt.

But, in order for that to happen, they'll probably have to get rid of the new regime. 1st part: Don't say that! But I fear you may be right. 2nd part: I agree totally. EY's so misused it's criminal, but he makes all the crap they give him work to the best of his ability. I guess that's partly why I love him so much. I too don't see him actually getting a proper shot until Hogan and co. leave.

Well atleast it keeps the good belt around so the next TNA champ can take it.

I do like Eric Young, but why are people still asking for him to be "legit" and "serious"?
It's not going to happen. If World Elite hadn't have fizzled out, than maybe it would've led to something, but it didn't.

EY hit his peak during his paranoid Team Canada member/post-Team Canada don't fire Eric phases. He was my favorite guy on the roster at the point. Once his angle with Roode dragged on and on I just gave up on him.

i cannot wait to see this.
EY is the Kane of TNA.
they should have been ruined AGES ago, but somehow are still around and still relevant. it's great.
as long as he leaves creepy Orlando Jordan and does this on his own it's going to be gold. (assuming he's given on air time to do it).

This sounds like a great gimmick, and suits Eric to a tee.

Eric Young is great. I have fond memories of the "Dont Fire Eric" phase. And Team Canada were epic.

It's not going to happen. If World Elite hadn't have fizzled out, than maybe it would've led to something, but it didn't. It didn't fizzle out so much as it just disappeared when Hogan and co. showed up. Anyways, all they'd need to do is show video of him actually taking the title belt out of the trash, and it'd be exactly like Jim Duggan getting the TV title back in WCW. I love EY, but recycling a lame angle like that is stupid.

I want an EY t-shirt NOW. It should have all the names of wrestlers who quit or were released from TNA in the past few years on the front (crossed out). And on the back, just three words; still employed, haters!
