I wrote up this nice application for a job I actually wanted that hires constantly and that I'm actually qualified for (this is rare), made it look as nice as possible, waited the proper amount of time, followed up, and I swear, within minutes I get the most automatic response looking "Sorry, pursuing other canditates, go away" email ever.
Then a day after it, they post the same exact job listing on a local job site over again, making me wonder if they even read my email. I mean, I know times are hard but...
Shower me with hugs. And funny anecdotes about job rejections.

When I was looking for my first job, I got rejected by a shoe store of all places! I guess if your name isn't Al Bundy and you don't score 4 touchdowns in a single game, you can't work in a shoe store.

You gotta admit, 4 touchdowns in one game looks pretty good on a resume...

Honestly, I'd keep trying until they personally call you and tell you to stop applying.

I was honestly thinking about sending in the exact same application repeatedly just to be a smartass, I had no idea that actually worked.

I'm not sure if it works...but do it anyway, especially if its a job you want and are qualified for.

(hugs) It'll be ok . I don't really have any stories about job rejection besides the "I'm sorry you're not the right candidate at this time..." schtick. I'm still looking for jobs myself, and it's getting harder everyday.

*hug* ....*grope* I don't have any amusing job rejection stories. Just the standard never calling you back stuff. I do however have amusing date rejection stories if that would cheer you up

I would keep applying for the job. Shows that you are serious and want the job. Can't hurt.

Being someone who has been rejected more than accepted I can say that this will make you stronger spiritually..if that's of any help.

I don't have any amusing job rejection stories. Just the standard never calling you back stuff. I do however have amusing date rejection stories if that would cheer you up *Waits for Citten to start a "Date Rejection Stories" thread* I start too many threads as it is >__> But I'll totally tell my favorite one. When I was in 8th grade, I had a huge crush on this high school guy that went to the same karate dojo as me. I don't think he had ANY idea who I was. A friend gave me his phone number (which I later found out she got from the phone book...). I called him a couple times to ask random questions... But I never introduced myself. I'd call his house, ask to talk to him, and then when he picked up the phone I'd go "HEY DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME KARATE IS?" and he'd be like "...uhhh no?" and I'd go "OH OKAY" and hang up. ...Yeah. So then one day I decided that I was going to tell him I liked him. So I called and actually introduced myself this time. This happened: Him: Hello? Me: Hi. It's Liana. Him: ...Who? Me: I go to karate with you. I wanted to tell you that I like you. Him: Okay. Me: ...K bye Him: ...... Me: ......*hangs up* And then he dropped out of karate. I don't know what the f*** I was thinking. I must have been SO creepy. I have since learned my lesson. My only excuse is that I was 13 and didn't know any better.

... Your name is Liana? But seriously, oddly enough that story made me feel better. And I know I'm not alone in this day and age it's just.. I'm painfully shy as it is and it's hard for me to even work up the courage to follow up as it is, gah. But thanks everyone.

I have a friend going through the same thing. He's qualified and they told him they'd check into it by the end of February(the building for the job he applied for isn't open yet) and he's heard nothing, yet they are still posting the job.
Sounds like a formality, a bullshit one, but a formality nonetheless...

Yah, I'm not a fan of my name :B In high school everybody called me by my nickname (Taz) but now that I'm a grownup I go by my real name. Being a grownup sucks >:C I'm painfully shy too. Like... Badly. I'm trying right now to get the courage to talk to somebody in the geology department at my school about getting a geology minor but I'm too shy to do it for no good reason. And don't even get me started on the fact that I want to ask about getting a discount on the cat I'm going to adopt... I hate being shy sometimes

If you don't like Lianna, why not have people call you Lia or Anna ... Lia sounds nice.
And your story about calling the kid from Karate was really, really funny. Thanks for sharing!!
